About Woodruff Scout Camp

Woodruff Scout Camp is one of the premier Scout camps in the Southeast, welcoming more than 8,000 Scouts from across the United States each summer. Located in the beautiful mountains of North Georgia, Woodruff provides a high-adventure environment where Scouts develop leadership, outdoor skills, and confidence.

Our staff plays a critical role in creating life-changing experiences for youth while developing valuable leadership and professional skills of their own.

Position Overview

Woodruff Scout Camp is seeking Lifeguards / Aquatics Staff to support our waterfront programs during the 2026 summer camp season. Aquatics staff help operate our swimming and boating programs while ensuring the safety of Scouts participating in waterfront activities.

This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in outdoor recreation, education, youth development, parks & recreation, tourism, or camp leadership.

Responsibilities

Serve as a certified lifeguard for waterfront activities

Monitor swimmers and boating areas to ensure participant safety

Teach swimming skills and assist with aquatics merit badge instruction

Support canoeing, kayaking, and other waterfront activities

Maintain safe waterfront operations and follow safety protocols

Assist with equipment care and daily program setup

Serve as a role model and mentor to Scouts

Qualifications

Must be 18 years or older

Lifeguard certification required (American Red Cross or equivalent)

Ability to work outdoors in a team-oriented environment

Strong communication and leadership skills

Experience working with youth is helpful but not required

Must be available for the full camp season (May 23 – July 19)
