Business Support and Human Resources Intern

(Part Time, Non-Exempt)

This is an ongoing recruitment process, with no specific closing date. We will be reviewing applications on a rolling basis.

This position is project-based and will work approximately 20 hours per week June 1 - August 12, 2026.

$17.50 per hour

Position Summary:

Internships are designed to introduce and build essential, hands on skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional. Interns are assigned duties that will provide a broad, well-rounded learning experience within their field of study. The Intern reports to a designated supervisor in assigned Department.

 

Essential Duties:

Typical duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Providing administrative and clerical support to HR and administration staff.
  • Assists with HR, HRIS, recruitment, and onboarding projects.
  • Assists with business support and risk management projects.
  • Attends and participates in various District meetings as assigned.
  • Consistently maintains a culture of providing excellent customer service and ensures quality across all programs.
  • Responds tactfully and in a timely fashion to inquiries and problems in person, by email, phone and mail providing helpful information and explanations in line with District policies and procedures.
  • Thoughtfully handles confrontational or stressful interactions.
  • Maintains accurate systems of record keeping and develops reports.
  • Drives a personal and/or District vehicle to other District facilities for meetings and as needed.
  • Complies with District and departmental rules and regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Attend work on a regular, reliable and punctual basis.
  • Performs other duties and special assignments as directed.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Currently in pursuit of associate’s degree in human resources, business, public administration, or a related field.
  • Previous experience with administrative and office support desired. Experience in a related field is preferred but not required.

 

Licenses, Certifications, and Other Requirements:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within thirty (30) days of employment. Must be insurable by the District carrier at the onset and for the duration of employment.
  • Occasional use of personal and District Vehicles. Driving Requirements will vary depending on Department/Division, may be required to drive a personal and/or District vehicle for business purposes.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Must be able to prioritize and multitask.

 

Material and Equipment Used :

This position may regularly operate a multi-line telephone system, general office equipment, and photocopy equipment. May be required to safely operate a vehicle.


Working Environment :

This position primarily works in a busy office and/or recreation environment subject to continuous interruptions and background noises. Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality and have high attention to detail and accuracy. The work environment will vary depending on Department/Division. Positions located in an Ice Arena will result in a cooler temperature than a typical office environment. This position may work indoors or outdoors subject to a variety of weather and landscapes.

 

Physical Requirements :

Stand, walk, sit for extended periods, handle and operate objects and office equipment, reach outward and above shoulder and carry, pull, push or lift up to 20 lbs. Must be able to see close up and at a distance with vision acuity and the ability to adjust focus allowing a broad field of vision. Must communicate clearly and effectively, must understand and be understood.
