Marketing & Communications Intern

About EFI:

Equitable Food Initiative (EFI) is a ground-breaking, multi-stakeholder skill-building and certification organization whose mission is to improve the lives of farmworkers while transforming food supply chains through workforce engagement. EFI’s first key innovation was to demonstrate that motivated, trained, and incentivized farmworkers can address retailer, civil society, government, and consumer concerns about working conditions, pesticide use, and food safety in the produce industry. More recently, EFI has diversified into programs offering scalable supply chain risk management solutions through ECIP LAB (learn/assess/benchmark) software platform, and strategies to document and credential the skills of frontline workers. 

About the Internship:

EFI is offering a Paid Educational Internship designed to provide hands-on learning, mentorship, and exposure product marketing within the food and agriculture sector. This internship is education-focused and project-based and does not constitute an employment relationship.

The intern will work closely with EFI’s Marketing & Communications team, contributing to real-world projects while building practical skills in content creation, digital platforms, event support and the agriculture sector.

Internship Structure:

  • This is a stipend-based educational internship, not hourly employment.
  • The intern is not an employee of EFI and is not eligible for employee benefits.
  • The internship emphasizes mentorship, skill development, and learning outcomes rather than operational output.
  • Date: May-August 2026
  • Length: Approx. 10 weeks
  • Time commitment: 20-25 hours per week 
  • Hours are coordinated flexible with the Program Lead and may vary based on learning activates academic commitment and events. 
  • This internship is remote, but does require travel to California for an industry trade show
     

Stipend Milestone Payment Structure: 

EFI will provide the intern with a total educational stipend of $4,500, paid in 3 installments during the internship.  

Internship Activities:

During the internship, the intern will actively contribute to EFI’s Marketing and Communications and Product Marketing efforts. Activities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Marketing Collateral and Content Creation

  • Support the creation of marketing materials—including landing pages, social media graphics, one-pagers, and printed collateral, primarily in support of ECIP, while assisting broader EFI efforts as needed.
  • Collaborate with EFI staff to understand and apply brand guidelines and communications standards across materials.
  • Support reformatting existing website content to align with updated brand standards and website design patterns, gaining hands-on experience with content management systems.

Event Planning and Support

  • Support the Product Marketing Manager in planning and executing the July ECIP event during the Organic Produce Summit.
  • Attend and assist ECIP event during the Organic Produce Summit, helping with setup, coordination, and execution of event logistics.
  • Document event outcomes and gather feedback to support post-event reporting.
     

Administrative and Operational Support

  • Provide support to the ECIP team in accounts payable and other administrative processes as needed.
  • Assist in ad hoc research, reporting, and project tracking to ensure timely completion of departmental initiatives.

Digital Asset Management

  • Assist in digital media asset cataloging as needed. 
  • Catalog raw video b-roll footage by applying consistent tagging and organization standards, including the creation of a curated “best of” folder for future video projects.
  • Support data collection, cleaning, and reporting efforts for marketing campaigns and ECIP initiatives.

Professional Development

  • Participate in weekly educational sessions on marketing, communications, and the food industry.
  • Receive mentorship from EFI staff to develop skills in project management, content creation, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Attend a major industry trade show.
