Position Summary:

The Outdoor Gear Rental Assistant is primarily responsible for providing customer service to the Student Recreation Center members and customers utilizing the Outdoor Gear Rental Program and resource area under the supervision of the Climbing Wall/ Outdoor Programs Coordinator.

6-10 hours

 

Required Job Qualifications:

Full time CSU student with minimum 2.0 GPA and not on academic probation. 

Ability to lift 50 pounds.

 

Preferred Job Qualifications:

Previous experience working in a customer service operation preferred. 

Experience with outdoor recreation equipment including tents, sleeping bags, snowshoes, etc. 

 

Essential Duties:

Consistently uphold all Campus Recreation department policies and procedures for patron and employee management related to position; critical thinking, problem solving within limits of department policy and procedures, judgment to identify and apply existing guidelines, training, enforcement, and communication for employees. 

Provide a safe and effective environment for patrons. 

Uphold service ethic, professional appearance standards, and Emergency Action Plan response. 

Attend all area and department staff meetings, in-services, and trainings.  

Assist in the delivery of the rental program including checking out equipment, checking in equipment; following all standard policies and procedures of the rental program. 

Assist in the inventory, maintenance and upkeep of outdoor gear rental equipment. 

Be knowledgeable about Outdoor Program trips, clinics, and events.   

Be knowledgeable about local resources, outdoor shops, public lands, and activities related to outdoor recreation. 

Answer and appropriately re-direct customer inquiries, phone calls, and emails. 

Maintain a clean, neat appearance of program area. 

Complete hands-on and online training for blood borne pathogens on a yearly basis (or as procedures change) 

Other duties as assigned.
