Copywriter

COPYWRITER

Looking for a job? Look elsewhere.

Looking for a craft — at a place where your curiosity, your standards, and your love of language actually matter? Read on.

We're Laudisi — the people behind Smokingpipes.com, Peterson of Dublin, Caldwell Cigars, and a handful of other brands you've probably never heard of (but our customers are obsessed with). We're not a content mill. We're not churning out SEO filler or corporate speak. We're writing for people who actually read — enthusiasts who notice when a sentence lands wrong, who remember details, and who can tell the difference between good writing and exceptional prose.

Your role? You're the voice between a carefully made product and the customer who needs to understand why it's worth caring about.

WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY DO:

Write detailed, well-researched product descriptions for pipes, pipe tobacco, cigars, and accessories with the kind of specificity that makes people think, "This writer actually knows what they're talking about."

That's the standard. Fast, clean, and better than it was when it landed on your desk..

You'll also:

  • Contribute occasional, long-form articles to our blog, the Smokingpipes Daily Reader — diving deep into pipes, tobacco, cigars, and the culture that surrounds them
  • Write marketing newsletter copy that’s descriptive, never generic
  • Brainstorm and contribute ideas — not just execute someone else's vision, but help shape what we say and how we say it
  • Juggle multiple projects simultaneously — because we move fast, deadlines are real, and sometimes you'll get an assignment with very little notice
  • Collaborate across teams — work with your colleagues in Merchandizing, as well as those across Marketing, Customer Service, Manufacturing, and leadership teams to understand what needs to be said and why
  • Research and synthesize — dig into topics you don't know yet and make connections that weren't obvious before
  • Think strategically about SEO and content — not just keywords, but how content serves both readers and search engines
  • Improve the work — yours and others' — because iteration isn't failure, it's part of the process

YOU'LL THRIVE HERE IF:

You're not just a writer. You're someone who thinks deeply about language, who knows the difference between clarity and cleverness, and who can explain why one sentence works better than another.

You sweat the details because sloppy writing bothers you. When a sentence isn't working, it nags at you until you fix it. You don't need hand-holding. You can take a rough spec, ask the right questions, find the information you need, and own the outcome. When your drafts come back marked up, you don't take it personally — you see it as part of making the work better.

You're fast and good. Not one or the other. You can turn things around quickly without cutting corners, because speed and quality aren't at odds when you know what you're doing.

You're curious. Whether it's pipes, cigars, coffee, watches, food, spirits, or any other "deep hobby" world where the minutiae matter — you get it. You understand why people care about the details, and you respect that.

This is a landing pad, not a parking lot. Writers who excel here don't stay stuck; they take on bigger creative challenges, grow into leadership roles, and shape how we communicate as a company.

YOU CAN EXPECT:

  • Compensation and benefits: Competitive compensation; health, dental, and vision insurance; six paid holidays; generous PTO; 401(k) with 1:1 match up to 4% and no vesting period.
  • Perks: casual dress (jeans and t‑shirts), tuition reimbursement, referral bonuses, year‑end bonuses, fresh fruit daily, paid luncheons, and regular company events.
  • Growth: real opportunities to take on more responsibility as you master the work, improve processes, and show you can own outcomes—not just tasks.
  • Culture: a passionate group of “Laudisians” who like the products, like the customers, and like working with other people who actually care.
  • Reality check: we work around tobacco and smoke; many of us are enthusiasts. You’ll often be in smoking areas, so you’ll need to be comfortable with that.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

Prior pipe and cigar knowledge isn't required — we'll teach you. What we're really looking for is:

  • A proven background in writing and a genuine love for the craft.
  • Exceptional command of standard American English — grammar, spelling, phrasing, and style.
  • A willingness to research deeply and write knowledgeably about subjects you're still actively learning.
  • The ability to meet deadlines consistently, work autonomously, and stay organized under pressure.
  • Experience with sales- or call-to-action-oriented copy is a plus.
  • Proficiency in a Windows- and Google-based environment, a valid driver's license, and the ability to pass a criminal background check.

THE BOTTOM LINE:

This job isn't for everyone. It's for writers who treat language like a craft, who get frustrated when content is generic or sloppy, and who want to work on brands that people actually care about.

If you're reading this and thinking, "finally, a place that gets it" — apply below.

If you're reading this and thinking, "Wow, they sound intense" — we probably are. And that's fine. There are plenty of other jobs out there.

But if you want to be part of something where your words matter, where quality isn't negotiable, and where showing up means actually showing up?

We're building something here. Come help us tell the story.

HOW TO APPLY:

Apply via corporate.laudisi.com for the Copywriter role and upload your resume and a cover letter explaining why you think you'd be a great fit at Laudisi.

Look, we’re super passionate about the things we do—for many of us that includes the things we buy, make, and sell chiefly pipes, pipe tobacco, and cigars. Lots of us smoke tobacco at Laudisi and there will be times when you must work in smoking areas. Please consider whether you are comfortable working around smoke and tobacco before applying for this position. Check us out and apply at corporate.laudisi.com

Applicants being considered must pass a criminal background check. Our hiring and employment practices are based solely on job related criteria, and we do not discriminate on the basis of any characteristic protected by law.
