Arts Organization Internship (3 months)

Unique opportunity to work closely with a seasoned Kathak teacher/performer and learn about Indian classical performing arts through two upcoming, large-scale dance productions in Cleveland and Seattle!

Seeking a dedicated Intern to work alongside Artistic Director, Mrs. Antara Datta, for administrative and grant-related assistance for dance school, Anga Kala Kathak Academy (AngaKala.com), as well as 501c3 nonprofit, Arts without Borders (theAWB.org).

NOTES ABOUT POSITION

  • Temporary position to assist Mrs. Datta leading up to productions in Cleveland, OH on June 7 and Seattle, WA on June 28
  • Term to begin approximately March 25, 2026 and end approximately June 25, 2026
  • Average of 3 hrs per day, 7 days a week; hours may be less at first, but will increase as the events draw near
  • Fixed total pay of $3000 for the full three month term
  • Fully remote work

DUTIES INCLUDE

  • Grant Research: Identify and research funding opportunities, including government, corporate, and foundation grants that align with the organization's mission
  • Relationship Building: Build and maintain relationships with funders through communication, meetings, and updates
  • Proposal Writing: Craft compelling, accurate, and tailored grant applications that align with funders' priorities
  • Budget Preparation: Develop budgets and financial justifications for proposed projects
  • Documentation Management: Collect and organize required documents for grant submissions, such as financial statements and board information
  • Compliance: Ensure proposals meet deadlines and funders' guidelines
  • Grant Tracking: Maintain records of applications, awards, and reporting deadlines
  • Reporting: Write post-award reports to funders, detailing outcomes and financial use
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with board members and artists to align applications with organizational goals
  • Event and Campaign Integration: Incorporate grant opportunities into broader fundraising campaigns and events

QUALITIES OF AN IDEAL CANDIDATE 

  • Experience in the performing arts industry
  • Highly organized
  • Detail-oriented
  • Experience with Google suite
  • Capable of handling various simultaneous timelines efficiently
  • Strong research, writing, organizational, and communication skills
  • An understanding of nonprofit funding mechanisms

The Anga Kala Kathak Academy is a dance school founded with the sole purpose of imparting students & enthusiasts an exceptional training in the classical art form of Kathak; while also inculcating the values, traditions and culture it embodies.

Having multiple locations in the Cleveland, Seattle, and Pittsburg areas, we provide our students a stimulating, supportive and multi-cultural environment to explore the physical, intellectual and spiritual benefits of this ancient art-form. We wish to enrich our community through performances & demonstrations; and also foster personal growth and cultural exploration through our workshop and outreach activities.

Every other year, we organize a recital where there is opportunity to collaborate with world class professional musicians, dancers, and instructors. Also there are opportunities of performing in numerous community events throughout the year.

The mission of 501c3 nonprofit, Arts Without Borders, is to popularize classical performing arts in North America. To explore and highlight the ways in which oriental and western classical art-forms resemble or complement each other. To create opportunities for everyone to learn, enjoy and contribute to classical performing art.
