Occupational Therapist

Decatur County Hospital is an 11 bed Critical Access Hospital offering Acute/Skilled care, emergency services, and a wide range of outpatient services. The majority of patient care is outpatient setting including orthopedics, geriatrics, pediatrics, neurological disorders, sports injuries, etc. All DCH Rehabilitation Department members are certified in the LSVT BIG program to help patients with Parkinson’s disease or other neurological conditions. LSVT certification is covered by employer. A continuing education reimbursement may be available. Educational/Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy. Current Iowa Occupational Therapy license, or ability to obtain.

Brief Description of Job:

  • Performs necessary documentation including: evaluations, progress notes, discharge notes and logs in a timely manner.
  • Strong customer service orientation, can build positive supportive relationships with co-workers, patients and their families and other health care workers with whom they interact.
  • Ability to work well as a team member or independently. Demonstrates flexibility, willingness to adapt to change in a positive manner. Takes pride in work performed and uses effective time management to complete work.
  • Evaluates and treats patients and determines treatment plan. Adjusts/amends treatment plan as needed to progress patient and follow-up with referral source regarding patients treatment and progress.
  • Explores and recommends new market opportunities for Rehab services. Builds and maintains rapport with physicians and other referral sources.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

  • Understands and complies with the requirements of the DCH Compliance Program, including, but not limited to the Code of Conduct, the Compliance Policy, all organization-wide policies for compliance, and compliance plans affecting specific duties and responsibilities.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to Customer Service and provides professional collaborative communication with all internal and external customers, including active involvement in the design and implementation of patient, employee and physician satisfaction initiatives.
  • Participates in all education and training programs regarding compliance as required by DCH policy and as requested by supervisor.
  • Will maintain confidentiality when dealing with all customers according to the Confidentiality Policy. Will utilize effective problem solving skills as appropriate. Will convey enthusiasm and sincerity and promote DCH and its services in a positive manner to all customers.
  • Will support DCH through the daily application of mission, vision, and values while providing quality care and services to our patients, their families, co-workers, physicians, volunteers, and the communities we serve.
  • Adapts well to organizational changes and has the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Will perform duties in a manner consistent with safety principles. Will coordinate work flow with other team members to ensure a productive and efficient environment.
  • Assures that the mission, vision, and values of Decatur County Hospital are visual in the operation and direction of the assigned department. Communicates and promotes a strong commitment to this mission.
