Media Relations Intern

The City of Virginia Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau is in search of a Media Relations intern for Summer 2026.

The internship will provide an effective transition from the classroom to a professional setting.

Job Duties:

Assist with the Director of Media Relations with writing, editing, and distributing press releases and media advisories;

plan, organize, and attend in-market travel media familiarization tours

Secure earned media coverage

Communicate with partners and stakeholders

Schedule & Hours:

• Typical work week will be 10-12 hours per week. The applicant is responsible to provide their own transportation to and from work during the internship.

Expected Duration:

• Monday, June 1st 2026 to Monday, July 27th 2026

Required Education:  

Candidates pursuing a degree in Communications, Media Relations, Public Relations or similarly related field.

• Eligibility: Must be a currently enrolled student (in an associate's, bachelor's, master's degree or PhD program) and be in good academic standing as determined by the school, college, or university.
