Primary Teacher (Infant/Toddler)

At NVFS, our Early Head Start (EHS) program supports infants, toddlers, and families during the most critical years of development. We are hiring a Primary Teacher to create a safe, nurturing, and developmentally responsive classroom for children ages birth to three. At NVFS, you are not “just a teacher.” You are a trusted partner in a family’s journey.

This position has an hourly rate of $19.62 and is an on-site role.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
👶 Create a Safe & Nurturing Classroom
Ensure the safety and well-being of all children
Build warm, responsive relationships with infants and toddlers
Support social-emotional growth and school readiness
Create engaging, developmentally appropriate activities
🧠 Support Individual Development
Observe and assess each child’s learning style and developmental progress
Adjust activities to meet individual needs
Maintain accurate documentation and enter required data for compliance
🤝 Partner with Families & Team Members
Develop and nurture trusting relationships with families
Collaborate with classroom team and supervisor
Participate in reflective supervision and professional development
Maintain a positive and respectful classroom culture
Your Background: We understand that you may obtain skills through a variety of professional, personal, educational, and volunteer experiences.
- Current CDA in Infant Toddler Development
- Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education preferred
- Oral and written fluency in English; bilingual language skills a plus
- Digital and technical proficiency, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Must be able to demonstrate and live the organizational values of Communication, Integrity, Respect, Collaboration, and Accountability
Additional requirements:
- Successful completion of background checks, TB test and physical upon hire
- Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules and policy and procedures manuals
- Attendance reliability
- Must be able to lift a child up to 40 pounds.
Must be comfortable coming into contact with sick children and taking care of toileting demands of children.
