About the Opportunity
Interested current community/junior college, undergraduate, and graduate school students are invited to apply to be a Children’s Movement Equity Fellow (learn more from 2025 Fellows cohort here) at Children Now. Fellows will support the growth of The Children’s Movement by recruiting groups statewide to join our Pro-Kid network and engaging current members to advocate for kids by supporting legislative, regulatory, and budget advocacy efforts. Fellows will gain experience in network development through data-driven on-line recruitment, while also learning about how The Children’s Movement supports collective advocacy and student leadership.
In addition to their critical work with The Children’s Movement, Fellows have the opportunity to cross- collaborate with other teams at Children Now. Fellows are given opportunities to attend meetings with and learn from policy experts about various children’s issues around health, education, and child welfare. The Fellowship is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in developing their network with policy development, government relations, communications, network building and advocacy leaders, as well as non-profit management experts.
Fellows will work remotely for approximately 30 hours per week from 9am to 5pm (including a lunch break) for 8 weeks (June 22nd through August 13th) and will be paid $18 per hour. Applicants are required to reside in California during the duration of the program.
Examples of Activities
- Develop tailored messaging and conduct outreach to groups across the state to join The Children’s Movement to advance policy for kids, primarily through online research, email, and phone outreach.

- Conduct list-building and maintenance using Excel, Microsoft Teams, Airtable, and/or other platforms to help manage member data and generate new prospective Children’s Movement members.
The Fellows will work closely with The Children’s Movement team, but will manage their projects independently, exercising good judgment, organizational expertise, problem-solving skills, and time management.
