Elementary P.E. Instructor

Elementary Physical Education Instructor  

START DATE: August 15, 2026 (Est.)

 HOURS: Mon. - Fri. (30-35 hours per week)

  RATE: Hourly rate depends on level of education and experience.

We are seeking an individual who is passionate about supporting students’ physical development within a Christ-centered educational environment.

General Responsibilities and Essential Duties – Specific to This Position

Under the direction of the Elementary Principal, the Elementary Physical Education Instructor  will be responsible for instruction of students. May be expected to grade homework or tests/assessments and/or to record student performance. Must manage student behavior to maintain a safe and engaging, positive classroom learning environment. Will treat all students with love and respect. Will strive to develop students to be faithful disciples of Christ.

  • Deliver biblically-integrated instruction and engage students in active learning in accordance with classroom teacher plans.
  • Help students to grow and become faithful disciples of Christ, recognizing their God-given talents and using them to serve Him.
  • Instruct and monitor students in and beyond the classroom.
  • Teach students to use learning materials and equipment appropriately.
  • Integrate curriculum with the Bible.
  • Use technology to teach and accomplish other objectives.
  • Observe and evaluate student's performance and development.
  • Motivate and manage student behavior by establishing, teaching and enforcing rules and expectations. Address misconduct with Bible-based coaching and restorative corrective action..
  • Maintain discipline campus-wide using a restorative discipline approach focusing on learning and relying on school rules and the Bible as the final standard for all behavior..
  • Provide appropriate feedback on work, if so directed.
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students, using assessment data to inform teaching strategies, if so directed.
  • Teach students with disabilities. Consult the Director of Student Support Services as needed.
  • Maintain records, as directed. Records must be accurate and follow rules and state requirements.
  • Communicate necessary information in a positive manner to others.
  • Prepare the classroom for class activities for daily use.
  • Maintain a calendar of booked assignments and complete required tracking forms.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:  Spiritual Life

A qualified applicant will regularly read the Bible, attend a church, participate in active Christian fellowship, and strive to lead a life of positive Christian discipleship.  They will strive to live a life of Christian love, to be generous, respectful, honoring of others, and vested in the schools’ mission.

Qualifications:  Education and Related Experience  (Preferred; some flexibility)

Prefer experience working in K-12 or school setting

Prefer experience working in a non-profit or Christian organization 

Preferred: Specific coursework relevant to classes assigned

Preferred: State of Oregon or ACSI teaching license and/or special education license/endorsement  (not required)

  2. Enjoys learning 
  3. Is knowledgeable of curriculum content 
  4. Knows how to deliver engaging instruction
  5. Possesses a love for children and an understanding of child development
  6. Understands good teaching pedagogy
  7. Has an understanding of students with special needs and/or a diverse range of disabilities
  8. Has classroom teaching experience and experiencing managing the behavior of children
  9. Values the development of unity and a Christ-like school culture
  10. Demonstrates an ability to build and sustain positive relationships with others
  11. Demonstrates a commitment to resolve conflict positively following biblical processes; refrains from gossip and divisive behaviors
  12. Follows school rules and meets expectations
  13. Is a self-starter who also works well in collaborative team environments
  14. Has skills and necessary commitment to de-escalate and resolve conflict positively to create unity
  15. Spanish/English fluency highly valued (not required)

Physical Requirements

  • Job is indoors and outdoors, requiring movement outdoors between buildings and on stairs and uneven surfaces.
  • Must be able to operate a computer and communicate fluently.  Software includes Google documents and Windows Office suite (Word, Powerpoint, Excel; Google docs, forms, spreadsheets; and FACTS).
  • Work will be done in a classroom, outside an office or conference room, much of the time.  There may be adjacent noise.
  • The physical demands include those it would take to accomplish the essential elements of the job described here. Regularly required to communicate conversationally in real time. The employee is frequently required to walk; run; sit; use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms using a keyboard and video display terminal.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and climb stairs. 
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision or alternate accommodations  to accomplish all essential elements of this position.

Environment

The work space is adjacent to a busy learning environment, which may be either a quiet or noisy/hectic environment. Expect constant interruptions and distractions much of the time.

HOURS  

Mid-August to mid-June, (30-35 hours a week.)

Hours are dependent upon the number of classes in each grade
