Marketing & Social Media Intern
Location: South Miami, FL (Hybrid)
Type: Spring-Summer 2026 Internship (Unpaid / For College Credit encouraged)
Hours: 10-15 hours/week
Schedule: Weekdays, Select Weekends, Flexible, Based on Candidate Availability

Area Stage is a leading cultural arts organization serving South Florida through professional theatre productions, Conservatory training programs for youth and adults, and community-based outreach initiatives. Our programming includes performances, classes, workshops, and specialized work through the Inspire Theatre Project (ITP).
Position Overview
Area Stage is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Marketing Intern to support the Marketing Department with campaign execution and day-to-day marketing operations. This internship is ideal for students interested in nonprofit marketing, communications, digital media, and performing arts administration.
Interns will support marketing efforts across:
- Mainstage programming
- Conservatory programming
- Inspire Theatre Project (ITP)
- Community outreach initiatives
- Seasonal fundraising and donor engagement campaigns
Responsibilities
• This internship supports the Marketing Department across a variety of active initiatives throughout the season. Responsibilities may shift week-to-week based on current priorities and campaign needs.
• Intern tasks may include, but are not limited to, support in the following areas:
• Marketing Team Support & Project Assistance
- Assisting with day-to-day marketing department support tasks
- Helping maintain organization, timelines, and task progress for marketing initiatives
- Supporting internal workflows to ensure projects stay on track
• Promotions & Digital Visibility
- Assisting with efforts to increase visibility for Area Stage programs and initiatives through digital distribution
- Supporting online promotion efforts through community calendars, directories, and outreach channels (as assigned)
• Email Marketing & Communications Support
- Assisting in the preparation and formatting of email communications in Feathr
- Supporting proofreading, content organization, and link verification for outgoing email communications
- Helping compile draft subject lines, preview text options, and basic content elements
• Content & Creative Support
- Assisting with organizing marketing content (photos/videos) into labeled folders
- Supporting simple graphic updates or edits using existing templates (Canva)
- Supporting marketing content needs for social media, digital communications, and internal use
• General Department Support
- Assisting with administrative and operational tasks that help the Marketing Department function efficiently
- Providing support during high-volume weeks (performances, outreach events, major announcements, etc.)
Qualifications
• Ideal candidates are:
- Organized, responsible, detail-oriented, and opportunistic
- Able to follow instructions, templates, and deadlines
- Strong written communication skills
- Comfortable working independently after onboarding
• Highly recommended:
- Major in Marketing, Communications, Theater, or related fields
- Canva familiarity and social media knowledge
- Interest in arts, theatre, education, or nonprofit work
