Position Title: AmeriCorps Groundwork Fellow
Hours/Time Commitment: Full-time (40 hrs/wk); Monday - Friday
Start Date: September 1, 2026
End date: June 30, 2027
Location: Specific placement is determined by geographic location and site availability
Compensation:
- Living Stipend (pre-tax) $1236 twice/month for 40 hrs/wk
- Segal Education award upon successful completion of service of $5,176.50
Position Overview:
AmeriCorps Groundwork Fellows help sustain and grow the work of organizations that support young people in Minnesota. Fellows serve in nonprofit youth-serving organizations and government agencies across the state. This role is ideal for individuals looking to gain professional experience in coordinating various projects, strengthening communication, building professional relationships, and learning how to adapt and solve real-world problems behind the scenes at youth-serving organizations and agencies.
As a Groundwork Fellow, you’ll help build capacity at youth-serving organizations to address educational barriers through efforts that engage youth as agents of change. Each Groundwork Fellow role is unique and will depend on the needs of the organization, however the common goal is to help partner organizations increase their impact and effectiveness.
You Learn
- First-hand Insight: You will experience how nonprofit, youth-serving, and government agencies operate and see the impact these organizations have first-hand.
- Project Management skills: Every Groundwork Fellow follows a unique project plan that is tailored to the needs of the organization they’re serving with. The project plan will guide you throughout your service term, helping you develop the skills to organize, manage, and complete your project from the ground up.
- Deepen self-awareness: During your Groundwork Fellow service, you will be able to explore and clarify your unique strengths and interests and learn how to use those to meet your personal and professional goals.
- Practice leadership: As a Groundwork Fellow, you will have the opportunity to develop and exercise lifelong leadership skills that will make you a powerful force for good.
Minimum QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 18 years of age or older by the time of program start date
- Must have at least a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent educational qualification
- Must be either a U.S. Citizen, U.S. National or Lawful Permanent Resident of the United States
- Must be able to pass National Service Criminal Service History Background check (including National Sex Offender Registry, State of service and State of residence, and FBI checks) - eligibility requirements listed here
