Position Summary
A laboratory studying the genetic causes of inherited blindness is seeking a motivated Research Technician to support research on diseases such as retinitis pigmentosa, age-related macular degeneration, and severe myopia. The lab investigates therapeutic strategies including gene editing, gene therapy, and stem cell–based approaches. The technician will work closely with scientists on multiple projects involving genetically engineered stem cells and mouse models.

 

Key Responsibilities

- Perform DNA analysis on genetically modified stem cells and mouse models

- Conduct molecular cloning and assist with gene targeting procedures

- Culture and maintain stem cell lines

- Support gene-editing experiments using tools such as TALEN and CRISPR-Cas9

- Manage mouse colonies and assist with genotyping and DNA purification

- Purify and quantify DNA for transgenic and gene-editing experiments

- Maintain organized laboratory records and assist with general lab operations

 

Preferred Qualifications

- Background in biology, genetics, molecular biology, or a related field

- Experience with molecular biology techniques or cell culture preferred, such as PCR, qPCR, WB, tissue culture, IHC, IF, microscopy, FACS, etc.

- Strong organizational skills and ability to work on multiple projects in a research environment
