Job Summary
The Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority (CRVA) is seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic Hospitality Intern to participate in a rotational internship program across multiple departments within our venues. This hands-on experience is designed to provide college students with a comprehensive understanding of hospitality and venue operations, while contributing to the mission of promoting the City of Charlotte as a premier destination for visitors, events, and tourism.
Interns will gain exposure to the following departments:
- Event Services
- Customer Experience
- Food & Beverage Operations
- Sales & Business Development
- Catering & Sales
Essential Job Duties:
- Assist in the planning, setup, and execution of events across CRVA-managed venues.
- Shadow department leaders and support daily operational functions.
- Provide exceptional guest service and represent the CRVA brand positively at all times.
- Support efforts that highlight Charlotte’s unique hospitality and tourism offerings.
- Participate in venue walkthroughs, staff briefings, and post-event evaluations.
- Contribute to reports, presentations, and team meetings as needed.
- Work collaboratively with full-time and part-time staff, and CRVA external partners.
- Perform administrative and on-site tasks as assigned throughout the rotation.
Learning Objectives:
- Gain practical experience in large-scale venue management and hospitality operations.
- Understand how different departments collaborate to deliver seamless guest experiences.
- Learn how the CRVA supports tourism and economic development in Charlotte.
- Develop communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills in a professional setting.
Education and Experience:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university program with studies focused in Hospitality, Sport Management, Tourism, Business, or related program.
- Strong interest in event management, customer service, and the hospitality industry.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment.
- Passion for promoting Charlotte and contributing to its growing tourism sector.
Scope of Responsibility
- This job has no budgetary responsibilities.
Supervisory Responsibility
- There is no supervisory responsibility.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to stand and walk for up to 6 hours at a time
- Must be able to push carts up ramps (weight of 40 -50 lbs.)
- Must be able to lift 35-40 lbs.
Work Environment:
- Rotational assignments across indoor and outdoor event spaces.
- Fast-paced, hands-on environment with exposure to live events and real-time challenges.
- Professional attire required when interacting with clients, guests, or partners.
- Consistently deliver the best in customer service. Model and be accountable ensuring that customers are always put first by living the CRVA Service Philosophy to deliver memorable customer experiences
