Curriculum Specialist and Preschool Master Teacher

The Bombeck Family Learning Center strives to provide the very best care and educational experiences for infants, toddlers and preschoolers ages 6 weeks to 5 years old by working in partnership with families as the children grow and develop. The Center is affiliated with the University of Dayton School of Education and Health Sciences. The Bombeck Family Learning Center is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and holds a gold rating from the State of Ohio's Step Up to Quality rating system.

The Curriculum Specialist is a key leader in cultivating a nurturing, play-based learning environment for children ages birth to five years old. This position ensures that our curriculum reflects the center’s philosophy of learning through play, exploration, and discovery while adhering to state curriculum requirements.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor's in early childhood education or related field
- Five (5) years of experience in early care and education
- Skills in team leadership with early care and education
- Expertise in Conscious Discipline or other social emotional learning strategies and addressing challenging behaviors
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, database searches, online learning platforms and social media
- Physical ability sufficient to frequently bend, stoop and lift up to 50 pounds
- Possess sound knowledge of the procedures and regulations specific to the care and education of infants and children
- Expressed willingness to learn necessary skills and knowledge and to strive for continuous improvement
- Proven track record of diplomacy, tact and professional demeanor
- Experience as lead teacher or administrator
- Professional level of knowledge of educational theory, child development and teaching skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Attention to detail

 

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

- Two (2) years of experience as a Curriculum Coordinator position in early care and education
- Expertise in parenting programs such as Family Cafes
- Expertise in early childhood curriculum such as Creative Curriculum or Frog Street
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Experience analyzing educational data
- Commitment to inclusive excellence that aligns to the University's Catholic and Marianist mission
