Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking early‑career talent who are eager to learn, grow, and build a long‑term career in Staff Underwriting. We welcome candidates who have graduated since Spring 2024 (or who expect to graduate by Spring 2026).
Location Requirement
This role requires working on‑site in Des Moines, IA for approximately 1–2 years to support onboarding, training, and collaboration. After that period, flexibility may be available depending on business needs and performance. This position follows a hybrid schedule (at least three days per week in the office).
About this Role
This role is within the Staff Underwriting and Product Organization. Here you will get a comprehensive view of the insurance industry and have the opportunity to manage risk and guide strategy for the Farm portfolio. Our geographic territory includes most of the country and includes a wide variety of farming and ranching operations. Qualified candidates will have a passion and ability to analyze data, underwriting performance, and have an entrepreneurial and customer centric mindset.
- Key attributes for this role will include but not be limited to portfolio management, performance monitoring, new product development, data analytics, and competitor analysis.
- Responsibilities will also include identifying areas for improvement, efficiencies, and formulating strategies for profitable growth.
- Knowledge of agriculture and ability to transform data into actionable insights will be key skillsets within this role. Travel will be minimal for this role but may be required at times.

- Recent graduates with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Agricultural Studies, or other related fields
- Experience with Agriculture and/or Farm is strongly preferred

Key Responsibilities:
Partners with management and peers to transform businesses through the strategic application of people, processes and technology.
Participates in business process analysis/design, needs assessment and cost/benefit analysis to align solutions with business strategies and directions. Participates in business-specific technology plans.
Assists in the implementation of new business processes or and procedures.
Supports identification of the critical elements of a business process that need to be monitored and reports performance in a cohesive manner.
Participates in department-level changes in business model, restructuring operations, new technologies, re-engineering, etc.
Helps train customers on business, technological, societal and environmental trends to support strategies for improving business performance. Provides demonstrations and walk-throughs.
Assists with evaluating and researching new and existing products, procedures and/or workflow needs associated with business systems for the company.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to Manager/Director; this is an individual contributor role.
Typical Skills and Experience:
Education: Undergraduate studies in business, insurance, mathematics, computer science or related field preferred.
Experience: One or more years of experience in a business operational position involving business process analysis and design, performance improvement, problem solving, planning, coordinating and organizing. Experience with process redesign methods and tools a plus.
Knowledge, Skills and Ability: Knowledge of standards, methodologies and frameworks, business process management and information technology. Working knowledge of a wide variety of tools, concepts and techniques. Basic understanding of new technologies and developments in the technology industry. Understanding of the systems development life cycle. Basic knowledge of facilitation, performance management, organizational design and managing organization change. Solid communication skills and ability to deal with ambiguity.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
