Peer Recovery Specialist Interns
Interns receive formal training in trauma-informed care, ethical peer practice, recovery principles, community resource navigation, and professional documentation standards. Interns gain supervised field experience through community outreach, support groups, wellness events, and one-on-one peer engagement under the guidance of qualified program staff. The program emphasizes lived experience as an asset while building professional competencies, boundaries, and leadership skills.
The internship prepares participants for state certification (where applicable), workforce placement in behavioral health settings, and continued professional development within community-based recovery services. in alignment with TZL’s mission to promote mental health, resilience, and holistic well-being.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or GED (minimum educational requirement)
- Lived experience with substance use and/or mental health recovery (self-identified)
- Minimum period of sustained recovery (typically 1–2 years, depending on state guidelines)
- Ability to serve as a positive role model in recovery
- Demonstrated commitment to ethical peer support practices
