Sales Development Representative

DefinedTalent is working with a client that is looking for a Sales Development Representative who thrives at the intersection of engagement, data, and client service to help build this commercial engine from the ground up. 

You'll be one of the first sales hires and will work directly with the founders to define outbound strategy, messaging, target accounts, and sales processes as we scale. Someone excited about selling data and research to sophisticated Wall Street investors, who wants real ownership and a fast path to career growth

Key Responsibilities

  • Own outbound prospecting into hedge funds, PE firms, asset managers, investment banks, and consulting firms
  • Identify and engage senior investment professionals (PMs, Analysts, Partners, CIOs, Heads of Research)
  • Execute thoughtful, multi-channel outreach (email, phone, LinkedIn, events) tailored to each strategy and firm
  • Book high-quality meetings for senior sales leadership and help build a predictable pipeline
  • Learn the platform and custom research offerings to clearly articulate value to investors
  • Collaborate closely with founders to refine ICPs, use cases, and positioning as (long/short equity, credit, macro, PE, etc.)
  • Provide direct feedback from prospects to influence pricing, messaging, and go-to-market strategy
  • Help establish SDR best practices, tooling, and playbooks as the team scales

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years in SDR/BDR, sales, or a client-facing role (finance/fintech/data is a plus)
  • Strong interest in financial markets and how funds make decisions
  • Comfortable engaging senior professionals and navigating complex orgs
  • Motivated, resilient, competitive, and fast-learning
  • Clear communicator who can explain nuanced products
  • Builder mindset—you want to create, not just execute
