Chemical Lab Technician II - Mauldin, SC

 

Training M-F first shift Will progress to rotating 12 hour shifts when trained

Qualifications: Basic Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or technical degree in Chemistry, Analytical Testing, or related field OR High School diploma/GED with 2+ years of laboratory experience.
  • Experience using standard laboratory instrumentation (e.g., GC, HPLC, FTIR, balances, pH meters).
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Excel and operation of computer-controlled instruments.
  • Ability to follow written procedures and verbal instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately record and report data.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Commitment to following all safety procedures and PPE requirements.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working in a manufacturing or quality control laboratory environment.
  • Basic familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar quality systems.
  • Experience with SAP or other laboratory data management systems.
  • Experience with common instrument platforms (e.g., Agilent, Metrohm, Bruker, Anton Paar, Brookfield).
  • 2+ years of hands-on laboratory experience.

 

Responsibilities: Key Responsibilities

Safety & Compliance

  • Demonstrate a strong safety mindset by wearing required PPE and strictly following all site safety procedures.
  • Actively support and promote a safe working environment by participating in required safety training, programs, and site EHS initiatives.
  • Participate in site-driven ERP safety programs, including peer-to-peer observation processes.
  • Report unsafe conditions, incidents, and equipment concerns promptly.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized laboratory in accordance with site Chemical Hygiene and Laboratory Safety standards.

 

Quality Control & Testing

  • Perform routine quality assurance testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products in accordance with site procedures and quality requirements.
  • Conduct testing using laboratory instrumentation such as FTIR, NIR, autotitrators, GC, HPLC, viscometers, balances, and pH meters.
  • Perform routine calculations and document results accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Enter quality data and perform basic transactions in SAP (e.g., quality results, stock movements, internal non-conformance documentation).
  • Evaluate test data against established specifications and procedures using approved software tools.

 

Laboratory Operations

  • Prepare and standardize laboratory reagents as required by procedures.
  • Maintain laboratory supplies, solvents, and reagents; communicate replenishment needs to the Sr. Lead Laboratory Specialist.
  • Support proper waste handling and disposal in accordance with site and regulatory requirements.
  • Clean laboratory glassware and support general lab housekeeping activities.
  • Obtain, label, store, and dispose of retained samples in accordance with site procedures.

 

Operational Support

  • Provide basic troubleshooting support related to product quality issues in collaboration with plant and quality personnel.
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders regarding test results and sample status.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives through adherence to standard work and quality practices.

 

Work Schedule

  • Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts after completion of required training.
