Preschool Director

QUALIFICATIONS:  Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, be a spiritually discerning Christian who has a reputation that is blameless. Bachelors Degree or higher, Preschool Administrative Credentials, and prior preschool experience is required. Exceptional human relations skills.  Must be able to supervise faculty, plan and coordinate the work of others, and provide oversight and input regarding the general school program and related areas.  Ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality as appropriate.  Must have good organizational skill and communication skills.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:  Assist the Elementary Principal by supervising the preschool faculty and staff in the areas of day-to-day performance and preparation, orientation of new employees, guidance, admissions, discipline.  The Preschool Director must be able to assume full administrative authority in the absence of the Elementary Principal. Provides instructional leadership to staff including curriculum planning, review and implementation, and professional development. Responsible for determination of all schedules, assignment of all preschool staff responsibilities, and utilization of classroom space and resources. Define policies of admission, attendance, tuition and educational goals and establish all other necessary policies, procedures or rules pertaining to the operation of the preschool.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  1. Develop long term plans to facilitate the growth of the preschool
  2. Remain in contact with all preschool teachers via radio on a daily basis
  3. Maintain SMARTCARE relationship and be the liaison
  4. Schedule and give preschool tours
  5. Arrange for preschool substitutes as needed
  6. Manage all aspects of preschool student admissions
  7. Maintain all preschool personnel records
  8. Purchase routine curriculum, equipment, and supplies
  9. Help maintain preschool accreditation paperwork
  10. Make changes to preschool handbooks/manuals
  11. Update mandatory forms and arrange for copies to be made
  12. Organize In-service trainings
  13. Make sure classroom radios work
  14. Prepare for parent orientation
  15. Set up all faculty/staff in Brightwheel
  16. Train and supervise the preschool staff by holding regular meetings, mediating minor disagreements, and assisting in the classroom when necessary
  17. Plan, organize, coordinate, and promote professional development, training, and staff meetings
  18. Prepare for events
  19. Carnival
  20. Grandparents’ Day
  21. Thanksgiving program
  22. Parent Day
  23. Preschool End-of-Grade program
  24. Prepare for the end of the school year. 
  25. Maintain Preschool area of the Website
  26. Enroll new students in homerooms
  27. Prepare for and attend Open House
  28. Send out weekly newsletter to staff and parents
  29. Maintain, develop, or modify curriculum to meet the needs of the children
  30. Keep PTO for preschool staff current in the timeclock software
  31. Conduct preschool staff evaluations
  32. Ensure compliance with licensing requirements and all other applicable county, state and federal laws, rules, and regulations
  33. Serve as the primary point of contact with all governmental and regulatory bodies in connection with preschool
  34. Ensure all health and safety programs including universal health precautions, emergency procedures, and facility and equipment safety are followed
  35. Encourage feedback regarding preschool programs and activities
  36. Responsible for ensuring personal and professional leadership growth with weekly meetings with the elementary principal and implementing any new techniques
  37. Responsible with coordinating with HR in the employment of staff
  38. Keep CPR and first aid certifications current
  39. Create summer calendar of events / themes
  40. Provide day-to-day leadership and work with staff to ensure high performance and to promote a positive employee relations environment
