Fall Social Media and Digital Content Intern (PAID), SBS Pathways Center

The SBS Pathways Center is seeking a Social Media intern for Fall 2026 (with remote work an option) to assist with a variety of duties related to digital promotion, marketing, and education about Pathway Center services and programs. This internship is paid, and eligible for credit during the Fall semester with the option of continuing in the Spring. The position will require at least 5 hours a week (over 14 weeks), more if time allows.

Reaching students via social media and web outreach is more important than ever to the Pathways Center. It is our intention to create dynamic, user-friendly content to reach our various student populations, including Exploratory Track, prospective, First Generation, low-income, and BIPOC students, and those seeking internships and employment opportunities. This is an exciting opportunity for students with a firm grasp of social media and content development to further develop their skills in a real-world environment.

The primary function of the Social Media Intern is to work with the Student Leadership Team to create a social media strategy, develop a content calendar to manage the release of material, design and distribute text and video-based content, monitor social media channels, support promotional and marketing efforts, and help us grow our social media presence.

Duties & Responsibilities include:

  • Draft a social media strategy with a content calendar to identifying appropriate times to post on each SBS Pathways social platform that will attract NSOT followers and prepare us for the fall semester;
  • Help identify, conceptualize, design social media campaigns to boost future engagement, educate and inform all constituents (students, staff, faculty, alumni and employers) about our social media channels on TikTok, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook, LinkedIn, blogs, email newsletters, virtual events, and website content;
  • Support the team to develop content to build a connection between SBS students and the Pathways Center (including possible collaboration with SBS RISE and our Career Office), support Exploratory Track students, promote the services of the Pathways Center, as well as market workshops and events for the fall semester;
  • Support the Team around data analytics to track, measure, and report on social media platform engagement and website traffic;
  • Additional responsibilities based on your individual skills/interests and organization needs.

Social Media Experience & Requirements:

An ideal Social Media Intern will have an in-depth knowledge of social media platforms and a working knowledge of the services and programs of the Pathways Center. The intern will be comfortable managing multiple social media accounts, developing content to inform, educate and engage our audiences to increase awareness of programming and services. An exceptional candidate will have a working knowledge of the social media applications and social media analytics.

  • Major in one of the SBS majors is preferred
  • Impeccable oral and written communication skills
  • Previous professional experience in a social media-related internship is preferred
  • Experience with the major social media platforms including Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Google+, as well as Canva, Photoshop/InDesign, image/video editing software preferred. Highly proficient in MS Word and other Windows applications.
  • Knowledge of social media analytics to track audience engagement and campaign performance
  • Commitment to learning, collaboration, and accountability in goal accomplishment. 
  • Strong interest and demonstrated engagement in social media, public relations, marketing, graphic design and/or communications
  • Ability to work independently and to collaborate with others, plan, organize, prioritize work, and meet tight deadlines
  • Must be able to apply close attention to detail and consistently produce error-free work
  • Eagerness to be creative and take initiative on new ideas and projects

Compensation: This is a paid position at $16/hr. for 5 hours per week for 14 weeks with a possible opportunity to continue in the Spring semester. Students with Work Study are encouraged to apply.
