Lunch Plus Program Assistant

Lunch Plus Program Assistant (Part-Time) 

Monday–Friday • 8:30 AM–1:30 PM or 9:00 AM – 2 PM 
$15–$17 per hour 

About the Role 

The Lunch Plus Program Assistant plays a key, hands-on role in an adult day program designed for older adults who are frail or experiencing memory impairment. Working closely with the Program Coordinator, you’ll help create a warm, welcoming, and supportive environment that promotes connection, comfort, and meaningful daily engagement. 

If you’re kindhearted, patient, and enjoy bringing joy to others, this role gives you the chance to make a genuine difference every day. Experience with seniors is helpful but not required—we’ll provide full training. 

 

What You’ll Do 

Essential Responsibilities 

Ensure the safety and well-being of participants throughout the program day. 

Assist/Facilitate daily social, recreational, and enrichment activities. 

Provide exceptional customer service in person, on the phone or email when supporting participants, families, volunteers, and colleagues. 

Assist with outings and special events as needed. 

Maintain Western Reserve’s SAMS database, including new client entry and monthly/quarterly reporting. 

Organize and update files for grant compliance. 

Support grant reporting and compliance tasks for the Supervisor and staff. 

Additional Responsibilities 

Complete daily opening and closing program checklist. 

Help with simple food prep (e.g., plating desserts, brewing coffee, making iced tea). 

Serve clients with warmth, efficiency, and a focus on excellent customer service. 

Monitor kitchen inventory and report weekly needs to the Program Coordinator. 

Follow daily/monthly cleaning guidelines from the Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging. 

Adhere to all food safety and health requirements. 

Complete “Person in Charge” or ServSafe certification (training provided if needed). 

Other tasks as requested by your supervisor

Ability to maintain HIPAA confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately. 

Attention to detail and strong organizational habits. 

Patience, initiative, enthusiasm, and adaptability in a dynamic environment. 

Dependability and a collaborative team spirit. 

Excellent telephone and customerservice skills. 

Knowledgeable in data entry preferably using Microsoft Office. 

CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). 

Comfort with Jewish culture—or a willingness to learn. 

High School diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
