2026-2027 Legislation Associate- The Government Accountability Project

This position is supervised by the Director of Legislation, Maya Efrati. Work will primarily include detail-oriented legislative advocacy for Government Accountability Project’s legislative priorities. This includes research on elected members of Congress and confirmed agency leadership; research on agency whistleblower offices; compiling, identifying and summarizing information on legislation; and other congressional affairs work. 
Additionally, this position requires strong writing (drafting) abilities. Writing-intensive work, including for advocacy (legislative and regulatory) and other public-facing communications, will be common.

 

a. Draft press statements on legislative or congressional activity.
b. Research and draft blog posts on legislative or congressional issue areas, including the organization’s current and prior activity and accomplishments.
c. Compile details and facts about agency and other regulatory work, and about the organization’s recommendations for changes to this work, as it relates to whistleblower protections. 
d. Research information about elected and appointed officials’ stances and actions related to our organization’s issue areas. 
e. Compile information and research into specific issue area protections for whistleblowers to further our congressional/DC advocacy.
f. Draft communication with legislative staff. 
g. Attend/watch hearings and other congressional activity, providing summaries and other information. 
h. Review and assist with editing of written communication and documents.
