Teacher Residency Program

Our Mission: Teach St. Louis recruits, trains, and supports effective educators who are committed to the region’s public schools.  Teach St. Louis prepares and develops educators  who are capable of accelerating student achievement and meeting the needs of the students and families they serve.

Program Overview:  Teach St. Louis’s Residency Program provides an effective pathway into the classroom. In partnership with Washington University in St. Louis, our program blends a rigorous, full-year classroom apprenticeship with an aligned sequence of masters-level coursework, designed to successfully prepare you for a career in the classroom. In the first year, candidates spend a full year developing under the guidance of an experienced mentor teacher, while completing coursework to earn their initial teacher certification. In the second year, candidates become a lead teacher-of-record while continuing to take coursework to complete their Master’s degree. Graduates commit to teach with their partner school for an additional two years, dramatically impacting the students, families, and communities that they serve.
