Early Childhood Assistant

The Garden School of Marietta is seeking an Early Childhood Assistant Teacher

Position Overview:

Early Childhood Assistants work closely with lead teachers to provide a caring, Waldorf-inspired forest school experience for our toddler and kindergarten students. This position is an active, primarily outdoor role that supports young children (ages 6 and under) in a nature-based learning environment throughout all seasons and in all weather.  Assistants support the classroom by guiding behavior, reinforcing routines and rules, maintaining a safe and organized environment, and helping with general classroom upkeep.

As part of our forest-based program, assistants should be comfortable with physical work in an outdoor environment. This includes lifting and carrying classroom supplies—and occasionally children—up to 35–40 pounds, walking and working on uneven forest terrain, transporting materials between buildings and outdoor classroom areas, and navigating stairs and natural trails. Dependability, collaboration with lead teachers, and a willingness to participate in Waldorf training are essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Support positive behavior and classroom routines
  • Assist with classroom set-up, organization, cleaning, and upkeep
  • Maintain a safe, welcoming environment
  • Collaborate with lead teachers and participate in ongoing Waldorf training

Schedule & Hours:

  • Part-time: Mon–Fri, 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. (approx. 24 hrs/week)
