Elementary Special Education Teacher

Position Overview

Esperanza Community Services is seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team in a full-time or part-time, on-site role in Chicago, IL.

In this position, you will play a vital role in supporting students with diverse learning needs by designing and implementing individualized instruction, developing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of educators, therapists, and support staff. Your work will help create meaningful learning experiences that promote independence, communication, and lifelong skills.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with student needs and goals

Provide differentiated instruction to students with a variety of learning and behavioral needs

Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals

Collaborate with related service providers, support staff, and families

Foster a structured, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment

Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team collaboration

Qualifications

We are looking for educators who are committed to making a difference and supporting students with unique needs.

Required:

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Special Education

Illinois Professional Educator License with LBS I or LBS II endorsement (formerly Type 10)

Compensation

Starting salary:

$61,000 with a Bachelor’s Degree

$68,000 with a Master’s Degree and Special Education endorsement

Additional compensation based on education and experience
