U.P. Future Health Leaders Camp Counselors

U.P. Future Health Leaders Camp (U.P. FHLC) is a youth camp dedicated to health education and health career exploration. 

Camp dates: Sunday, July 19th-Friday, July 24th

Position Titles, Roles & Responsibilities: 

Day Camp Counselor (9 Total): NMU students will be assigned to a particular group of high school students (9th-10th grade) from 8:00 a.m. -5:00 p.m. each day. They will be responsible for keeping the group contained, escorting them and attending their particular sessions, accompanying them to breakfast and lunch and ensuring the group is where they are supposed to be throughout the day. 

Overnight Residence Hall Supervisors (4-6 Total):  Ensuring students remain in the residence halls immediately following scheduled evening extracurricular activities, conducting a site-seen check-in each evening at designated lights out time, being readily aware and available for any urgent student needs between the hours of 9:00 p.m.-8:00 a.m. Ensuring rules and safeguard regulations are followed at all times and communicating updates and needs to camp administrators in a timely manner. 

Extracurricular Activities Assistant (6-8 Total): Assisting and supervising students during dinner and evening extracurricular activities between 5:00-9:00 p.m. each evening. 

Additional Information:

Students will be required to attend a mandatory student orientation to learn more details about the camp in general, as well as their particular assignments.

Students may apply for a paid position or for completion of volunteer hours/CSI. 

Preference will be given to applicants with prior counseling experience and those currently in a health sciences major at NMU.

If students are not local to the Marquette area, housing within the NMU residence halls can be provided at no extra cost. Please indicate if this will be a need within your application.
