Summer Intern – Finance 

Massar Capital Management (“Massar”) is an alternative investment management company based in Stamford, CT and with offices in New York City, NY and Vienna, Austria. Massar employs a discretionary global macro trading strategy that seeks to capture investment opportunities across liquid commodity, foreign exchange, fixed income, and equity markets.

Massar Capital Management is seeking an intern to support the Finance team with recurring processes and ad hoc projects. The ideal candidate is interested in gaining exposure to hedge fund structures and a variety of financial instruments. This individual should be detail-oriented, proactive in identifying inefficiencies, and motivated to develop solutions that streamline workflows and automate manual tasks.

Responsibilities: 

• Support the Finance team in monthly NAV oversight and review process
• Assist with daily PNL review and reconciliations 
• Help with preparation of materials and documentation for annual audit 
• Develop and maintain project plans to track team initiatives
• Monitor cash & collateral balances 
• Support multiple ad hoc projects focused on process improvement and workflow automation: 
  • Data extraction and consolidation
  • Reconciliation automation 
  • Validation /control check implementation 
• Assist in the preparation of reference guides for various processes 
• Collaborate with the team on regulatory filings 

Qualifications: 

• A candidate currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, or a related field at a four-year institution
• Self-motivated and detail-oriented
• Able to work independently and take initiative  
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Advanced excel skills needed, familiarity with automation tools (VBA, Python, etc.) is preferred but not required
• Open-minded and collaborative team player willing to learn and contribute in a dynamic environment
