Creative Strategy Manager

Creative Strategy Manager

Location: Hybrid in Raleigh, NC area

Type: Full-time; contract to hire

The Woobles is a fun, quirky brand with a lean team. We’re looking for a Creative Strategy Manager to join us and help build The Woobles to new heights. The Creative Strategy Manager will drive the development and execution of creative strategies to support customer acquisition efforts. You’ll partner closely with our media, eCommerce, and creative teams to conceptualize and deliver content that aligns with The Woobles' voice, resonates with our audience, and drives measurable growth. This role is a mix of strategic planning, creative ideation, and cross-functional collaboration.

About The Woobles

The Woobles exists to show people it's never too late to learn a new skill.  We teach complete beginners how to crochet by combining a physical kit with emerging ed-tech tools.

Our work is meaningful. Many of our customers turn to The Woobles to spark joy in their and their loved ones’ lives. Since 2020, we’ve successfully helped 1,000,000+ people experience fiero - the feeling you get when you accomplish something you once thought was impossible.

We’re a healthy business. We have no investors and with that, comes freedom. Freedom to make choices that are best for our customers, employees, and business.

We’re an unusually small team for our revenue, and we plan on keeping it that way. We're all about getting the job done with as little busy-work and meetings as possible. Our team is fully remote, spanning Wisconsin to China. So while we do a lot of our work asynchronously, we also know how to have a good time virtually anywhere ;)

We’re on a rocket ship. We’ve seen unbelievable growth in our 6 years in business. Every day is a busy day, and the fast pace excites us. We’ve got ambitious goals to 1) make better products that make a significant impact on how millions of people see themselves, and 2) build a lasting brand that people more than love – that they obsess over.

About you

You’re an all-around good human being. Life is short, and you want to be around people you like. You’re kind, honest, and trustworthy. You want to work every day with positive, direct people who make you and your day better. No big egos allowed.

You value autonomy. You do your best when you’re given lots of responsibility and independence. You thrive in ambiguity and enjoy making decisions. Lots of them. When you run into problems, you have the resourcefulness to solve it on your own, and the self-awareness to know when you need help. You’re comfortable working remotely.

You care deeply about doing great work. You’ll do whatever it takes to get things done. But you don’t just settle at that. You’re always looking for ways to break your own records the next time around. Your teammates know they can always count on you, just like you can count on them.

You eat feedback for breakfast. You’re always looking for ways to improve (yourself, the process, the product, you name it), so you give and take feedback with equal grace.

You’ve got a sense of humor. Because have you seen what we make? You’re an emoji connoisseur and appreciate the art of well-timed GIFs. You want to work somewhere where a sentence like this is 100% relevant: “There are 3 dinos on this one but I think it’s OK because one is riding a turtle.”

The role

You’ve built fun brands. You’re a creative visionary who thrives on turning big (and small) ideas into high-performing campaigns. You’ve got a knack for understanding what makes people stop scrolling and start engaging. Whether it’s a playful video ad that hits just right on TikTok or a perfectly tailored static on Instagram, you know how to create content that resonates.

You sweat the details. Crafting killer briefs? No problem. Reviewing creative assets to make them sing? You’re on it. You know how to guide creative teams to produce work that aligns with the brand while making the most out of each platform’s unique strengths.

You get it done. You’re a jack-of-all-trades when it comes to content. Need to ideate, script, and shoot a quick video? You’re in. Coordinating with external partners for a big project? Done. Collaborating across teams to bring a multi-channel campaign to life? That’s your jam.

You’ve been here. This isn’t your first time creating and scaling performance-driven creative strategies. You know how to bring a vision to life, inspire teams, and deliver results. And most importantly, you’re not afraid to roll up your sleeves to make it happen.

You’re obsessed with content. You are extremely online and keep up with the latest trends. You follow creators and brands because you like the way they tell stories and present themselves on social. You’re fully committed to the bit and take pride in the scrappy ways you’ve brought an idea to life.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Creative Strategy Development:
    • Lead the creation of paid social creative strategies, ensuring alignment with marketing goals and customer journey stages.
    • Conduct research on competitors, audiences, and trends to inform creative direction.
    • Collaborate with key stakeholders to adapt creative ideas to various platforms and campaigns.
  2. Creative Briefing and Execution:
    • Develop comprehensive and inspiring creative briefs for internal and external teams, outlining objectives, target audiences, and deliverables.
    • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure brand consistency and innovative storytelling across all creative assets.
    • Oversee the production of high-quality content for digital ads, website assets, and landing pages.
    • Produce video ads with co-founders and content creators at our warehouse or locally.
    • Draft and polish attention-grabbing copy across various formats and placements.
  3. Team Management:
    • Mentor and manage a small team (up to five people). You’ll be responsible for their professional growth, workload balancing, and upkeeping a high standard of output.
    • Hiring and maintaining relationships with creative agencies and freelancers as needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in creative strategy, marketing, or content production (preferably within a DTC or eCommerce environment) with at least 1-2 years of experience managing direct reports.
  • Strong understanding of social media channels and videos.
  • Basic content production skills from scripting to edit.
  • A knack for storytelling/selling, particularly in short, TikTok-style videos
  • Proven ability to craft and communicate effective creative briefs and provide actionable feedback.
  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities.
  • A collaborative team player with excellent communication skills and a passion for creative problem-solving.
