Engineer Intern (Dragonfly Energy, Pack Intern, Summer 2026)

Internship Description: 

As an engineering intern, you will work at the forefront of battery innovation, assisting our engineering team in validating the safety, performance, and reliability of our power solutions. This role is ideal for students looking to gain high-impact, hands-on experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. 

 

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Complete a minimum of 360 hours of work as an intern (32-40 hours per week, 9 weeks minimum) 
  • Execute test plans under guidance from engineers or senior staff 
  • Operate test equipment and follow standard operating procedures 
  • Accurately record test results and observations 
  • Document issues and escalate anomalies to engineering 
  • Assist in compiling data into formal test reports 
  • Help maintain test lab cleanliness and equipment readiness 
  • Participate in training to develop independent test planning skills 
  • Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis activities 

 

Goals and Expectations of the Intern:  

  • Master the setup and operation of the tools used to verify product specifications and safety standards. 
  • Develop the ability to identify failure points and suggest data-driven design improvements. 
  • Gain practical insight into the transition from a prototype to a shelf-ready consumer product. 

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Must be a degree-seeking undergraduate OR graduate student at the University of Nevada, Reno after the Spring ‘26 semester  
  • Spring ‘26 or earlier graduates are not eligible for Nevada Career Studio Sponsored Internships 
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy 
  • Ability to follow written instructions and procedures precisely 
  • Basic understanding of electronics or mechanical systems 
  • Comfortable using multimeters, power supplies, and basic lab tools 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word 
  • Strong organizational and communication skills 
  • Willingness to learn and take direction 
  • Dependable and punctual 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Prior experience in a test lab or quality assurance environment 
  • Familiarity with basic schematics, wiring diagrams, or PCB layouts 
  • Exposure to test automation software or data logging tools 
  • Coursework or certification in electrical, electronics, or mechanical technology 
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks
