Chess Instructor (After-School Program)
Make a positive difference in the lives of students by teaching chess in local schools.
Keystone Chess Academy partners with elementary and middle schools across Southeastern Pennsylvania to deliver structured, high-quality after-school chess programs. We are seeking dependable, thoughtful individuals who enjoy working with students and helping them grow in focus, strategy, and confidence.
Curriculum, lesson plans, and training are provided. Instructors are expected to lead with professionalism, consistency, and strong classroom presence.
Compensation
$50–$60 per hour, depending on experience and demonstrated teaching ability
Schedule
• Weekday afternoons (typically 2:45–5:15 PM)
• One or more days per week depending on availability
• Consistent weekly schedule for each session (6–12 weeks)
Responsibilities
• Arrive on time and set up materials
• Teach a short structured mini-lesson (~20 minutes)
• Supervise guided practice games
• Foster a positive, respectful learning environment
• Manage cleanup and organized dismissal
You May Be a Strong Fit If You
• Enjoy working with children (ages 5–12)
• Communicate clearly and patiently
• Are dependable and professional
• Have consistent weekday afternoon availability
• Have experience working with children (teaching, tutoring, coaching, camp counseling, etc.)
Chess experience: Solid understanding of fundamentals required; rated experience helpful but not necessary.
