Middle School Principal
Kearsley Community Schools is seeking a highly motivated administrative candidate to serve as the Middle School Principal. The position will begin on July 1, 2026.
The Kearsley Board of Education will offer the successful candidate an annual salary range of $104,273 - $122,656, commensurate with their education, skill level, and prior experience. The successful candidate will also receive a complete and competitive fringe benefit package including MESSA.
The Community
Genesee Township is located in the north central portion of Genesee County. The township is home to several parks and recreational areas, including Genesee County Parks, which features a large lake, campground, and the Genesee Valley Trail; a 21-mile hiking and biking trail that runs throughout the township and surrounding areas. In addition to the recreation opportunities, Genesee Township is home to several businesses and industrial parks, including General Motors International Processing Center. Overall, Genesee Township offers a mix of suburban and rural living with easy access to both recreational and commercial amenities, making it an attractive place to live for many people in the Genesee County region.
The District
Kearsley Community Schools serves approximately 2,750 students in Northeast Genesee County. The district has three elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. Kearsley Community Schools also offers a superior early childhood education through our award winning Pumpkin Patch. Additional programming includes dedicated Social Workers in ALL school buildings, the character strength building “P2 - Positivity Project®” at grade levels DK - 8, expanded dual enrollment opportunities, cutting-edge technology in all classrooms, and a nationally recognized Bike Tech® program at Kearsley High School that prepares students for jobs of the future. The district is composed of approximately 175 certified educators with the vast majority boasting a Master’s Degree or above.
The Kearsley Schools community stakeholders recently approved a $21,680,000 bond that will fund new and enhanced learning environments, districtwide building and site improvements, as well as safety upgrades. Some of the exciting improvements include:
- A NEW community recreation facility featuring a 1,500 seat competitive gym, indoor track, weight room, and team/training facilities.
- Enhanced learning environments, including updated Robotics and STEM spaces, as well as new flexible classroom furniture.
- Newly designed and enhanced secure entrances for all three elementary buildings.
The Position
Performance Responsibilities
- Develops, implements, and evaluates all educational programs.
- Supervises the work and job scope of all certified and non-certified employees.
- Administers all related district policies and procedures concerning discipline and attendance utilizing restorative practices.
- Assures the safety and welfare of all students including coordination of safety drills and procedures.
- Planning and implementation of programs for parent groups, staff, and community agencies, and promotes positive public and school-community relations.
- Supervises support programs such as food services, lunch supervision, and transportation as assigned.
- Oversee the management and care of the school equipment and materials.
- Supervises evening and extra-curricular activities.
- Coordination of all accreditation related activities.
- Planning and supervision of balanced student activities and assessment programs.
- Administer building and district programs for vocational and career-education preparation and placement, (1) comply with Title IX and XII, (2) provide non-traditional opportunities for students, and (3) provide quality experiences for students with special needs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Five (5) years of successful teaching experience or comparable successful experience working with students.
- Master's degree in administration, supervision, curriculum, or related areas.
- Hold a valid Michigan school administrator’s certificate.
- Demonstrate advanced skills in computer utilization of educational materials and student information systems.
- Demonstrate advanced organizational and communication skills with students, parents, and staff.
- Must possess a positive work history.
Desirable Qualifications
- Minimum three years of successful experience working with children and families in diverse/multicultural settings.
- Five (5) years of successful administrative experience, preferred.
- Knowledge of human service agencies.
- Graduate credits in pupil personnel administration, testing, vocational guidance, special education, or communications.
- Knowledge of performance assessment, curriculum development, and learning styles.
- Experience in management of student discipline and attendance with the ability to establish
programs and procedures to improve student behavior and attendance. - Demonstrate strong leadership qualities and the ability to relate to students, staff, and parents.
