DESCRIPTION: Edmonds College is seeking a Culinary Arts Tenure Track Faculty member.
The Culinary Arts full-time faculty member will teach a variety of beginning, intermediate, and advanced kitchen labs, as well as additional classroom-based courses, such as Principles of Cooking, and other courses as assigned. The optimal candidate should have excellent knife and prep skills, high-level experience with sauces, cold pantry items, and charcuterie, fine-dining restaurant line work experience, and other restaurant cooking skills. This position is also responsible for supporting a curriculum and instructional program that reflects both classical and contemporary cooking trends, while meeting industry standards for technique, quality, and presentation. The position requires a variety of teaching methodologies, including online teaching, lecture, and lab classes; the successful candidate will be expected to learn these modalities. Working with other faculty, the position will help coordinate the College Café menu to align with curricular needs and design and implement student production in the department’s To Go Program.
Daily hours in the lab will be from 8:30 am to 2:15 pm, Monday through Thursday (a 5.75-hour day). Our program also requires some time commitment to special events at alternate times. In addition, the position includes (but is not limited to) administrative responsibilities such as grading, record-keeping, curriculum development, collaboration with department faculty, student advising, new student recruitment, office hours, and other duties as needed. The position requires strong team skills, multitasking, and collaborative decision-making with other faculty and staff both within the department and across the college.
Every Faculty member is expected to: complete a three-year, probationary term for application of tenure; engage in committee work; engage in new faculty mentoring; engage in professional development for both discipline and teaching; and participate in Department, School, and College governance, as appropriate.
This full-time tenure-track faculty position reports to the Dean of the School of Business, Entrepreneurship, & Professional Education. It is anticipated to start on September 14, 2026.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts or a related field.
- Three years of recent industry experience.
- One year as an Executive Chef, or equivalent food service management experience.
- Food truck management experience is a plus
- Ability to teach in the summer months to run the food truck program.
- Desire to learn the principles of successful teaching at Edmonds College.
- Excellent verbal, writing, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Evidence of ability to use technologies, including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, email, and learning management systems (i.e., Canvas).
PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This is not a remote position; the successful candidate will be expected to be on campus. Work typically takes place in a professional kitchen setting, requiring extensive standing, walking, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Other work may be performed in a classroom and an office, requiring standing and/or sitting for extended periods. Faculty members are frequently required to use computers and other technologies in the work environment.
COMPENSATION:
The salary is based on the current faculty salary schedule; placement is based on education. The current range is $88,536.91 - $89,988.74 annually for a 172-day appointment, with contractually guided increases to $107,394.12. The college provides an excellent benefits package, which includes medical, dental, life insurance, and a retirement plan.
