Pediatric Occupational Therapist Job Description
We are seeking a Full-time and/or Part-time Pediatric OT, to join our team collaborating to support kids, adolescents, young adults and their families. Hours can be tailored to a certain extent to match you and your family. We offer supports to maximize the time you plan, play and support kids.
SUMMARY:
- Connect to our youthful clients to evaluate them for occupational therapy and/or refer them for other professional services or other recommendations.
- Develop, plan, and implement personalized pediatric treatment programs with goals, to support families in developing their kids to maximum potential. We support your creativity, and encourage collaboration with team and exchange of ideas (and energy)!
- Document evaluations and treatments, maintain accurate records, monitor progress, and adjust treatment plans as needed. Provide reevaluations, progress reports as requested/needed. We try to help avoid excess, unneeded report writing.
- Assess and distinguish abilities, limitations and treatment considerations specific to sensory processing, fine and gross motor capabilities, self-care, social interaction, emotional regulation and other activities of daily life. Distinguish, create, and modify treatment plans as we learn, understand each client’s personality, symptoms, and diagnoses.
- Collaborate with other professionals seeing the same client, to reinforce goals across therapies. Join others with cotreats, partial cotreats, periodic observations and other professional development.
- Demonstrate compassion for clients and families, to our clients, families and team.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
- Select appropriate evaluation tools to evaluate and assess patient deficiency areas and specific OT needs consistent with Pediatric Occupational Therapy Field professional practices.
- Connect with client, plan and demonstrate engaging, effective therapy sessions
- Recognize each patient progresses at different rates, and we persevere through setbacks, relapses knowing that a challenging session often leads to breakthrough sessions in future.
- Develop, and and implement a treatment plan for clients, offering activities and examples for specific goals to be accomplished, to support independent function.
- Educate child’s family with ideas to accommodate and support the child at home.
- Adjust, refine goals and treatment plans as necessary to meet client’s changing needs.
- Communicate effectively with parents, other family members, health care professionals, and schools, in order to learn, report and reinforce progress, goals, as well as learn ideas, issues to consider for future treatment.
- Participate in clinic team meetings as needed; contribute ideas for clinical and operational improvements. Support, develop other professional staff as able.
- Demonstrate interest, experience, and desire to work with the following diagnosis: Autism, ADHD, CP, Fine Motor Delay, Gross Motor Delay, Chromosome Deletion Disorders and more.
ABILITIES, SKILLS, INTERESTS:
- Enjoys working with sensory processing disorders, fine motor deficiencies, emotional regulation, social interaction, coordination, organization, planning abilities, ADL’s and IADL’s.
- Enjoys working with children that have physical, cognitive, or behavioral challenges that impact their ability to communicate and perform activities.
- Ability to remain calm, listen, demonstrate calm and steady manner along with patience and tolerance when working with clients. Adaptable, flexible. Demonstrate patience with empathy.
- Collaborative nature, enjoys co-treating opportunities
- Ability to listen and communicate with parents and caregivers to support future treatment sessions and to help parents learn more about their child, treatment progress and other aspects of child’s diagnosis and capabilities.
- Desire to develop confidence, self esteem, and social skills in children.
- Interest to develop and supervise COTA’s encouraged
REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:
Licensed Occupational Therapist by the State of Illinois or Eligible for Licensure as stated by state guidelines.
MINIMUM EDUCATION:
Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy

10:00am to 7:30pm Monday -Friday
8:00am to 1:00pm Saturday
