Join Northern Technologies International Corporation (NTIC), a global leader in corrosion management. As a Jr. Chemist within our prestigious Zerust®/Excor® division. Based in Circle Pines, MN, this entry-level role offers a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in the R&D laboratory, taking novel corrosion-inhibiting products from initial ideation to global launch. Reporting to the Sr. Formulating Chemist, you will gain intensive, hands-on experience in chemical formulation and corrosion mitigation, directly contributing to the evolution of the Zerust product line.

Role and Responsibilities:
- Assist in formulating water, oil, and solvent-based formulations for cleaning and corrosion control
- Collaborate with other departments for product production and qualification
- Collaborate with formulators to qualify new raw materials
- Process customer parts for product evaluation and solution providing
- Assist in problem solving raw material and finished good issues
- Provide support to formulators and technical service to resolve customer related issues
- Operate, maintain, and repair corrosion testing chambers according to ASTM standards
- Develop test methods for new product application test
- Assist in customer trials
- Prepare internal and external lab reports and presentations
- Input all chemical samples and SDS’s into inventory system
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to lift 50 lbs (intermittently)
- Be comfortable working with hazardous chemicals with proper PPE
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic understanding of analytical instrumentation (FTIR, GCMS, LCMS, IC, etc.)
- Familiarity with basic wet lab chemistry testing and techniques (pH, titrations, specific gravity, dilutions, etc.)
- Strong math aptitude and problem solving
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, and respirators
- Willingness to travel (15%)
- Research experience preferred, but not required
Education:
- Bachelor of Science/ Chemistry preferred, Chemical Engineering, Material Science; associate’s degree in chemistry considered
