Health Science Admission Representative
The Admission Visitors Center is hiring a Health Science Admission Representative to deliver weekly presentations to prospective students with an interest in the health sciences. The ideal candidate is currently enrolled in as a Pre-Medicine, Pre-PA, Pre-Dentistry, or Pre-Physical Therapy student at the University of Iowa, has a passion for sharing their experiences with prospective students, and is an engaging public speaker. The minimum UI GPA requirement for this position is 2.75, and students must maintain a 2.75 GPA to continue employment.
General duties include:
- Conduct large and small group health science presentations both in-person and via Zoom to prospective students and their families.
- Present information regarding health science programs at the University of Iowa, including MD, DDS, PA, PT, Speech and Hearing Science, Biomedical Sciences, Radiation Sciences, Nursing, Pharmacy, etc.
- Meet individually with prospective students and families who are interested in health science programs
- Share personal experiences as a health science student at the University of Iowa with prospective students interested in the health sciences.
- Must be available a minimum of two 1-hour Health Science Sessions conducted in the Admissions Visitor Center. Presentations typically take place on Mondays and Fridays from 1-3PM. Additional Zoom sessions may be offered in the evenings and on weekends.
- Participate in Admission recruitment programs, events, and activities both on and off-campus, including Hawkeye Visit Days and Admitted Student Visit Days.
- Basic knowledge of Undergraduate Admissions requirements, deadlines, and processes
- Assist with email and phone response to prospective health science students and families
- Other duties/projects as assigned
The beginning hourly wage for this position will be $13.00 per hour. Due to their access to student-related information in MAUI, the health science admissions representative will be required to complete FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) training once employment begins.
