Staff Research Associate II
Position Definition:
The Center for Population Brain Health (CPBH) is a collaboration of multidisciplinary investigators at the University of California, San Francisco, the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Health Care System, and the Northern California Institute for Research and Education. Our mission is to improve brain health over the life course to facilitate healthy aging. We conduct population-based research focused on the epidemiology of Alzheimer Disease and Alzheimer Disease Related Dementias (AD/ADRD) and brain health.
Under the supervision of the CPBH Director/Principal Investigator, the Staff Research Associate will work on NIH and DoD funded research projects focused on dementia risk and prevention. Key priorities will be to assist the PI and study coordinators with execution of research protocol, research administration, daily study operations for several epidemiological research projects. The candidate must have strong management skills and the ability to adapt and address new challenges.
Essential Functions:
- Assist the Principal Investigator and Study Coordinators in the execution of daily study operations for several NIH and DoD funded studies
- Assist with subject recruitment, including initial screening, obtaining informed consent, enrolling and tracking participants in research studies, and administering standardized questionnaires
- Assist with data entry and database management
- Assist with epidemiological research including literature reviews, analytic projects, data interpretation and synthesis
- Assist with the development of manuscripts and presentations for professional meetings and journals
- Assist with developing, editing, and reviewing research documents, including citations and formatting
- Coordinate and support research meetings
- Maintain and update lab website as needed
- Perform research administrative duties, including purchasing research supplies, reimbursements, and arranging travel
Job Requirements:
- B.A /B.S. or equivalent experience
- At least one year of relevant work experience
- Demonstrated experience in a research support capacity
- Professional skills including time management, superior organization, ability to meet multiple deadlines, be resourceful and work independently with minimal supervision
- Highly proficient working with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong oral/written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
Working Conditions/Environment:
The work environment is a shared office space. It may include minor annoyances such as noise, temperature variations, etc. The incumbent may be required to sustain standing and seated postures and to use a computer keyboard and display monitor for prolonged periods.
VA Onboarding Requirements:
NCIRE is an affiliate organization of the San Francisco VA Health Care System (SFVAHCS), which requires all candidates to complete SFVA onboarding in addition to NCIRE's onboarding process. The SFVA is a federal agency that requires a federal background check, occupational health clearance, vaccines and immunizations, and drug testing for certain positions. Drug testing may include screening for marijuana which remains an illegal substance according to federal law. The failure to pass required drug testing will disqualify candidates from employment.
The base wage range for this position is $25.24 - $40.60 per hour. The wage actually offered to a successful candidate will take into account various relevant and non-discriminatory business factors including, without limitation, the candidate’s geographic location, job-related experience, knowledge, and skills, and education, as well as internal equity considerations. A successful candidate may also be eligible to earn additional compensation including bonuses.
