JOB SUMMARY:
The Mine Engineer will work with the Mine Manager to develop and execute mine plans for the Surface and Underground Mine Operation. The operation consists of an open pit, Underground development project, Crushing, Sampling, and OTR ore shipping to the customer. The mine engineer will help the Mines ensure that the mining operations are maintained in a safe and environmentally friendly manner to achieve production, cost, and quality goals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works with Mine Manager and Mine Resource Planning group to develop effective short to mid term mining sequencing to optimize operations and life of mine.
- Supports Mine Planning Group with life of mine planning.
- Works under the direction of the Mine Manager to develop the mine schedule, ensuring the plan is being followed in the mine by monthly surveying
- Track and communicate crude inventory levels at the mine, manages crude hauling to maintain appropriate inventory targets
- Oversees the monthly reconciliation process for both internal and external material movement, as well as conduct advanced analysis of the movement.
- Processes capital expenditure request for the mining department
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Collaborates with Mine Management and Division support personnel to extract minerals, considering factors such as safety, operational costs, deposit characteristics, overburden depth, and surrounding strata.
- Prepares and sends a monthly dashboard report as to the state of the mining operation.
- Under the oversight of the Mine manager, sequences and directs mine operations, such as location and position of excavation benches and access roads. (should be able to accomplish within one year)
- Ensure adequate supplies of crude ore are available for processing plants.
- Grade control and resource/reserve reconciliation.
- Assist in preparation and submission of mine permits.
- Other Duties as assigned by the Mine Manager
Education/Experience Requirements
- BS in Mining, Civil or Geological Engineering, preferred.
- Minimum 2 years experience supporting a mining operation, ideally hard rock mining underground
Environment:
- Sitting up to 70% of work time. Standing and walking up to 30% of work time.
- Up to 10% travel
Skills and Attributes Requirements
- Proven ability to identify the need, provide justification, and implement improvement processes
- Knowledge of ArcGIS preferred
- Proven ability to learn and effectively use Deswik Mine design and scheduling Software
- Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Proven ability to learn and effectively use GPS systems for surveying.
- Proven ability to provide support to Operations Management in terms of monitoring production data, developing graphs, tracking equipment data thru OEM supplied software.
- Apply for and receive FAA Drone license within 3 months of hire
Pay Range: $90,000 - $130,000 Depending on Education and Experience
