About the Role
We’re looking for an Electrical Designer Intern to join our Design team. This paid internship provides hands-on experience in drafting, electrical design, project documentation, and construction industry workflows. You’ll work closely with experienced designers and engineers to learn real-world skills while contributing to active projects.
What You’ll Do
- Draft and revise electrical drawings using AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and other design tools.
- Assist in developing electrical plans for lighting, power distribution, and specialty systems.
- Perform basic calculations (lighting counts, load summaries, cable sizing) under guidance.
- Support project documentation, file management, and updates to design plans.
- Participate in design meetings to learn coordination and project planning.
- Review submittals and research electrical codes with assistance from senior staff.
- Communicate with internal teams including designers, estimators, and project managers.
What We’re Looking For
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a technical program or college major such as:
- Electrical Construction & Design
- Electrical Engineering
- Construction Technology
- Similar STEM or trade-related field
- Basic understanding of electrical concepts (voltage, circuits, loads).
- Familiarity with AutoCAD or Revit (coursework acceptable).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
- Ability to follow instructions and work in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Coursework in electrical drafting or building systems.
- Experience with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, or Revit MEP.
- Introductory knowledge of NEC (National Electrical Code).
- Previous internship or work experience in drafting, engineering, or construction.
