Robotics Mechatronics Co-Op

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, this Summer, we’re looking to add a Robotics/Mechatronics Engineering Co-Op located in our Libertyville, IL site.

 

Reporting to Process & Automation Engineering Team, the Intern will support robotic handling systems, AMR (Autonomous Mobile Robots), ASRS (Automated Storage and Retrieval System) validation, and vision integration across molding and automation systems while collaborating and working alongside Engineers and cross-functional teams.

 

What a typical day looks like:

  • Assist with robot path optimization and cycle time studies
  • Support ASRS, AMR validation and mechanical improvements
  • Assist with vision system tuning and validation
  • Support safety interlock verification
  • Participate in troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Attend team meetings to support project work as needed

 

Student qualities we’re seeking for this internship assignment:

  • Junior/Senior student pursuing Bachelors degree in Robotics Engineering, Mechatronics, or Electrical Engineering major
  • Basic knowledge of industrial robotics (robot motion, end-of-arm tooling, path programming)
  • Understanding of AMR and ASRS systems fundamentals (navigation, material flow, validation concepts)
  • Ability to perform cycle time analysis and optimization studies
  • Understanding of automation safety principles
  • Strong troubleshooting and hands-on problem-solving skills
  • Previous manufacturing floor internship experience a plus!

 

Co-Op Program Requirements:

  • Ability to work (Summer + Fall terms; ~May-December); 40 hours/week (in person) during the co-op assignment
  • Currently enrolled in 4-year accredited university
  • 3.0 GPA
