ABOUT

Chabot College's Nursing Program is hiring 2 Peer Support/Mentor Student Assistants to support our federally-funded nursing education initiatives. This is a grant-funded position supporting nursing student success, faculty development, and program operations.

Serve as a near-peer mentor for incoming and current nursing students, supporting the Summer Bridge program and ongoing student retention initiatives through academic encouragement, program navigation, and connection to campus resources.

What You'll Do:

• Serve as peer mentor during Summer Bridge orientation program
• Facilitate small group discussions, ice-breakers, and team-building activities
• Maintain regular contact with assigned mentees (minimum 2x/month check-ins)
• Conduct one-on-one and small group study sessions
• Identify students at risk and connect them to counseling, tutoring, or health services
• Assist with outreach to prospective nursing students at campus events and orientations

What We're Looking For:

• Currently enrolled in at least 1 class at Chabot College (6+ units if Federal Work Study)
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Empathetic, approachable, and committed to supporting fellow students
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries

Preferred:

• Current Chabot Nursing student (2nd year or higher)
• Prior completion of Summer Bridge program
• Experience with peer mentoring, tutoring, or student leadership
• Knowledge of campus support resources (financial aid, counseling, health center)

Pay: $16.90
Hours: Flexible, Project and Event Based
