Financial Operations Intern - Tampa
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting:
- Private Credit / Equity Fund Financial Statements review and analysis.
- Work directly with and prepare custom financial analysis and reporting for Star Mountain team members across multiple departments including Deal Teams, Portfolio Management, and Investor Relations.
- Leverage an understanding of regulatory requirements for BDC / SBIC vehicles.
- Assist audit and tax professionals in year-end audit and tax reporting.
Treasury, Liquidity and Credit Risk:
- Support treasury and liquidity management functions (oversee cash position for funds and forecast cash requirements).
- Manage capacity on the funds’ credit lines as well as borrowing base compliance/covenants.
- Manage the expense process, including vendor management, invoice processing and compliance with firm policies.
Research and Analysis:
- Performance measurement, including calculation of IRRs, investment multiples and various time weighted returns.
- Assist in preparation of regular investor reports and quarterly investment letters.
- Identify and implement process improvements with regards to efficiency and ensuring that strong internal controls and quality control are maintained.
- Review and interpret partnership agreements, private placement memorandums, and other legal documents.
- Assist with various portfolio monitoring of investments.
Qualifications
- Working towards Undergraduate degree with an Accounting major (May 2027 graduates preferred)
- GPA: 3.5+
- Work in office 5 days a week in Tampa, FL
- Good understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Adequate comfort with Principles of Financial Accounting, Corporate Finance and Private Credit and Private Equity industry knowledge, including return metrics and general risks
Summer internship beginning in May 2026. This role offers the opportunity to work in person at our Tampa office during the summer. Upon successful completion of the internship, there may be an opportunity to continue remotely during the academic year, with potential to transition into a full-time position.
