Technical Specialist

Jack's Fertilizers is hiring a Technical Specialist! 

JOB PURPOSE: This role is more than just a job—it’s your first step into the technical support world of Jack’s Fertilizers, where our team is what sets us apart from being ‘just a bag of fertilizer’. As a Tech Specialist, you’ll gain foundational fertility knowledge and hands-on lab experience evaluating plant health and performance. You’ll learn from experienced team members while supporting our customers via email, phone, virtual meetings, and in-person visits. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.) Get to know our Jack’s family of fertilizers
•Gain a comprehensive understanding of all Jack’s blends, across multiple product lines, focusing on Directions for Use and mixing rates, to confidently guide customers in feeding their plants
•Engage in meaningful conversations with growers, helping them understand and trust our products to enhance their growing success
•Learn to tailor your communication to meet each customer’s needs, whether through email, phone, in person or virtual meetings, ensuring they can effectively use our products
 

2.) Administrative Support for Tech Specialists
•This in-office position plays a crucial role in supporting both the Technical and Sales teams—boots on the ground is what makes the magic happen out in the field
•Being at headquarters also means you're a vital connection point for supporting our remote team members, helping everyone stay aligned and empowered to serve our customers
•Support preparation and execution of training materials, presentations, laboratory documents, tradeshow materials, online order support, and product trial material organizations as requested by Technical Specialists
 

3.) Technical Support for Jack’s Growers
•Get comfortable using HubSpot, our customer relationship management (CRM) system—track communications, create support tickets, and organize customer information for efficient follow-up
•Learn to ask the right questions to understand the full context of each grower’s situation—crop type, growing environment, goals, and challenges—to better support their success
•Approach every interaction as a learning opportunity—for both you and the customer—and work toward providing friendly, thoughtful, and knowledgeable support
•Complete Jack’s Fundamentals Short Course including Basic Fertilizer Knowledge, Jack’s Classic, Intro to Jack’s Professional, Intro to Jack’s Nutrients, Intro to Laboratory Analysis
 

4.) Be a Fertilizer Mathematician
•Fertilizer math is not for everyone, it can be confusing and frustrating, help communicate the benefits, efficiencies, and use of our products for many different crops
•While fertilizer calculations can seem complex at first, your role will be to break down those numbers into simple, helpful guidance for Jack’s Growers of all levels
 

5.) Technical Support for Laboratory Inquiries
•Help our customers make sense of all the useful information our lab provides – be able to answer customer questions forwarded to the lab about samples and results
•Begin developing the skills to interpret lab results with guidance from senior team members
•Collaborate closely with the Tech Team to ensure consistent, science-backed support and grow your confidence in making informed recommendations over time
 

CORE TASKS TO LEARN:
•Master HubSpot—efficiently communicate with customers, track interactions, and manage support tickets to ensure timely, professional responses and a seamless customer experience.
•Actively participate in team meetings to discuss customer cases, share learnings, and stay aligned on best practices for recommendations.
•Develop technical confidence by responding to customer inquiries, leveraging guidance from senior team members and the Jack’s Fundamentals resource book, with the goal of providing reliable, high-quality support that exceeds customer expectations.
