City Planning Intern
Position Overview
Assist Growth Management Department in various city and transportation planning functions, concentrating on innovation, mobility and artificial intelligence as applied to city planning.
Position Functions
- Research mobility performance standards implementation of various past development projects.
- Assist with the Annexation of City Owned Properties
- Assist with the digitization and record management of mobility studies and planned unit developments.
- Assist in site plan review for consistency with the City of Altamonte Springs Land Development Code
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current enrollment in a graduate program for urban and regional planning or public administration. Undergraduate candidates may be considered for those in relevant fields that are working towards a certificate or minor in urban and regional planning.
- Must be detailed oriented and have excellent communication skills.
PREFERABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Familiarity with MS Office and professional version of Adobe Acrobat or Bluebeam.
- Knowledge of the modern approaches to city planning, analysis and data management.
- Willing to work 20 hours per week; willing to consider extension of internship, if the opportunity becomes available.
- Valid driver license if driving.
Supplemental Information
Applicants will be required to complete a Disclosure & Authorization Regarding Background Investigation, a Confidentiality Agreement and a criminal background screening.
If driving, a driving history for the past three (3) years must reflect no violations of a driving related felony offense, or driving under the influence (DUI) which includes both drugs and alcohol, reckless driving, or hit and run involving an occupied vehicle or attended property, or an accumulation of traffic violations, plus three (3) points for each attendance at driving school (regardless of whether points were assessed against the license) where the penalty points do not exceed twelve (12).
