Summer Camp Teacher – School‑Age Program

Peoples Church Preschool is seeking energetic and caring Summer Camp Teachers to join our school‑age summer camp team. Our program serves children ages 6–12 and provides a rich blend of academic enrichment, creative exploration, physical activity, field trips, and hands‑on learning experiences in a safe, structured, and FUN environment.
As a Summer Camp Teacher, you will help implement daily activities that support cognitive growth, social development, physical fitness, creativity, and character building — all while fostering positive relationships with children and families.
Program Highlights
Our summer camp features:
- A large, air‑conditioned classroom space with areas for art, games, engineering, and more
- Access to a gymnasium and 3 acres of outdoor space including basketball, soccer, kickball, and playground equipment
- Daily schedule incorporating Morning Meeting, Cognitive Capers (experiments, mazes, math, art), Reading/Writing activities, and Interest Exploration
- Use of local resources, including nature centers, trails, botanical gardens, and special field trips for immersive learning
Key Responsibilities
Activity & Curriculum Leadership
- Plan and implement age‑appropriate daily activities and learning experiences that align with the camp’s structure
- Lead small and large group activities including science experiments, games, art projects, literacy activities, and enrichment stations
- Encourage exploration, curiosity, and teamwork among campers
Child Supervision & Engagement
- Provide consistent, attentive supervision and positive guidance to all children
- Support campers’ social‑emotional growth and encourage constructive peer interactions
- Facilitate both structured activities and unstructured play that promote physical activity and creativity
Field Trips & Special Events
- Accompany children on scheduled off‑site excursions or on‑site visitors
- Help manage logistics, safety, and supervision during all outings
Health & Safety
- Ensure all activities and environments are safe, inclusive, and supportive
- Follow all preschool licensing, health, and safety protocols
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with Lead Teachers, Director, and camp staff to coordinate daily programming
- Attend staff meetings, trainings, and planning sessions as required
Qualifications
- Minimum age: 18
- High school diploma or GED required; CDA, early childhood/elementary education coursework, or related experience preferred
- Experience working with school‑age children (ages 6–12) preferred
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to lead activities, support behavior guidance, and engage children in meaningful learning
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and engage actively for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and participate in outdoor games and physical activities
- Constant visual and audio supervision of children required
Working Environment
Summer Camp Teachers work indoors and outdoors and participate in physical activities throughout the day. The classroom environment supports creative, hands‑on learning and exploration, and staff are expected to be active participants in the programming.
