Annual Salary: $62,441.60 - $81,182.40

Position Information:
The Lead Maintenance Worker - Parks provides lead direction and work coordination for a crew assigned to the maintenance of parks; and performs related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Three years of full-time experience in ground maintenance in park or related landscapes that includes installation, repair, maintenance, and operation of computerized irrigation systems, medium equipment operation, pesticide application and horticultural management; OR any equivalent combination of training and experience.
License Or Certificate
A valid driver’s license is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained for continued employment in this classification.
Certification as a pesticide applicator must be obtained from the Department of Agriculture is required within six months of appointment and must be maintained for continued employment in this classification.
Backflow Prevention Tester certification (AWWA) is required within one year of appointment and must be maintained for continued employment in this classification.
The Ideal Candidate Will
- Demonstrate thorough skills and abilities to maintain turf, trees, and landscaped areas throughout Washoe County's Regional Parks and Open Spaces.
- Possess effective interpersonal and communication skills with County staff and the general public.
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge and experience with current park or landscaping maintenance processes and procedures.
- Have thorough experience in the safe operation of grounds maintenance equipment, such as string trimmers, edgers, tractors, and riding mowers.
- Have advanced knowledge of park maintenance work including irrigation, chemical application, and plant care.
- Demonstrate strong abilities to multi-task, prioritize, and work independently.
- Be self-motivated, responsive, and communicative.
