Assistant Director of Youth Ministry, High School

Position Summary

Provide leadership for the LCPC High School Ministry as a collaborative member of the youth ministry team by ensuring a relationally-based program that is dynamic and focused on transforming students into Christ-centered disciples. Hours are flexible but must include 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM on Sundays and 2:30 PM to 9:30 PM on Wednesdays. Part time 25-30 hours.

Essential Job Functions/Duties and Responsibilities

Oversee and direct ministry to high school students. This includes:

· Arranging and leading Sunday morning and midweek programs/activities for high school students

· Overseeing retreats, camps, and special activities for high school students

· Building meaningful relationships with students across all school campuses

· Communicating with students and parents through text messages, emails, phone calls and meetings

· Assist with administrative job demands

· Organizing and overseeing the assignment of students to small groups and of leaders to the specific groups

· Facilitating the smooth transition of students from Junior High to High School

· Assisting in the recruiting and training of student and adult small group leaders

· Connecting students with outreach and service opportunities

· Assisting in the recruiting, training, and supervision of Youth Ministry Interns

· Assisting in completing administrative tasks such as fliers/calendars, planning, phone calls, reports, etc.

· As needed, assist with youth ministry events, retreats, and special activities not explicitly related to High School Ministry

· Provide transportation support as required (maintain valid insurance and Driver’s license)

Work cooperatively with the youth staff, the Youth Ministry Support Team (YMST) and the other church staff members.

· Meet regularly with the Director of Youth Ministry for ongoing supervision and mentoring toward fulfilling the goals and vision of the youth ministry

· Help to establish and maintain a dynamic philosophy and direction for high school ministry

· Participate in regular team meetings with the youth staff and the YMST

· Participate in occasional church staff gatherings (meetings, lunches, etc.)

· Perform other duties as requested that are deemed necessary for a successful youth ministry

Position Requirements

· Commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and a devotion to God

· Abide by the policies and guidelines as set forth in the Employee Manual and Staff Covenant

· Completion of a four (4) year degree with some coursework (either undergraduate or graduate level) in Children’s ministry, Child Development, teaching, or related field of study

Knowledge, Skills, and abilities

· Ability to manage multiple priorities

· Be able to fully embrace the mission, vision, and values of LCPC

· Participation in LCPC as primary church commitment during duration of job

· Ability to communicate effectively with church members, parents, visitors, vendors, and staff members

· Computer and social media skills

· Ability to work efficiently and effectively in team situations as well as independently

· Solid time management and organizational skills with the ability to adapt to change, multi-task, and be flexible with many interruptions

· The ideal candidate will be teachable, creative, detail-oriented, flexible, hardworking, and decisive with the ability to organize and coordinate work, set priorities, and motivate others

· Abuse prevention, CPR and other training

Physical Expectations

· Must be able to stand, walk, bend, climb, push, pull, stop, twist, stretch, squat and lift up to 15 lbs. from floor to waist level without assistance, and climb ladders up to thirty feet with assistance and up to ten feet without assistance.

· You must be able to work on your feet for prolonged periods of time.
