Account & Sales Intern

We partner closely with leading cloud and technology providers and support clients across Banking, Financial Services, Insurance, Life Sciences, and other data-intensive industries.

Internship Objective

The Sales & Partner Development Internship is designed to provide hands-on exposure to enterprise sales, consulting services, and technology partnerships. Interns will support go-to-market (GTM) initiatives while gaining practical experience working with sales leaders, partners, and delivery teams across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development Support

  • Conduct research on target accounts, industries, and buyer personas
  • Assist with account research for lead list building
  • Perform sales prospecting through calls, emails, and social media channels
  • Support sales efforts, messaging preparation, and CRM updates
  • Help prepare meeting briefs, call notes, and follow-up summaries
  • Assist with pipeline tracking and reporting

Partner & Ecosystem Support

  • Support partner planning initiatives
  • Research partner offerings, GTM motions, and joint value propositions
  • Perform partner prospecting through calls, emails, and social media channels
  • Help maintain partner-related documentation and sales assets

GTM & Strategy Enablement

  • Participate in internal sales, partner, and strategy meetings
  • Contribute to internal GTM initiatives and process improvement efforts

Capstone Intern Project: Business Impact Challenge

A core component of the internship is the Capstone Business Impact Project, designed to give interns broad exposure to the business while encouraging ownership, innovation, and measurable impact.

1. Leadership Immersion & Business Discovery

  • Interns will have the opportunity to interview leaders across Impetus, including Sales, Partnerships, Delivery, Engineering, Marketing, and Executive Leadership.
  • Through these conversations, interns will learn:
    • What each function does
    • How teams collaborate internally
    • How each role contributes to customer outcomes and business growth
  • Insights will be synthesized into a clear understanding of how Impetus delivers value end-to-end.

2. Idea Generation & Innovation Pitch

  • Based on their learnings, interns will identify a business opportunity such as:
    • Improving sales or partner engagement
    • Enhancing GTM execution or messaging
    • Optimizing internal processes
    • Strengthening customer or partner experience
  • Interns will develop and formally pitch a new idea supported by research, data, and a clear business rationale.
  • Ideas demonstrating measurable business impact may be selected for implementation.
  • Interns whose ideas are adopted or generate tangible outcomes will be recognized and rewarded.

3. Business Case & Performance-Based Bonus Presentation

  • At the conclusion of the internship, interns will prepare a formal business case presentation summarizing:
    • Key learnings and contributions
    • The proposed or implemented idea
    • Expected or realized business impact
  • Interns will present this business case to a leadership review panel.
  • As part of this presentation, interns will make a professional case for the performance-based bonus they believe they earned.
  • Bonus awards are determined based on impact, quality of thinking, execution, and professionalism.

Internship Timeline (Weeks 1–10)

Weeks 1–2 | Onboarding & Business Orientation:

  • Impetus onboarding, tools access, and internship expectations
  • Introduction to Impetus offerings, customers, and partner ecosystem
  • Shadow sales, partner, and GTM meetings
  • Begin leadership interviews for capstone project

Weeks 3–9 | Sales & Partner Development Support

  • Conduct account, market, and partner research to help Sales Directors develop Target Account Plans 
  • Assist with account research for lead list building
  • Perform sales prospecting through calls, emails, and social media channels
  • Support sales efforts, messaging preparation, and CRM updates
  • Help prepare meeting briefs, call notes, and follow-up summaries
  • Assist with pipeline tracking and reporting
  • Support partner planning initiatives
  • Research partner offerings, GTM motions, and joint value propositions
  • Perform partner prospecting through calls, emails, and social media channels
  • Help maintain partner-related documentation and sales assets
  • Capstone Project:
    • Continue leadership interviews 
    • Identify Capstone project themes and opportunity areas
    • Refine the capstone problem statement and business opportunity
    • Validate assumptions with mentors and stakeholders
    • Develop solution concepts 
    • Build a business case, an impact model, and supporting analysis
    • Develop a capstone pitch narrative and presentation
    • Midpoint review with internship mentors and leadership and refine the solution based on feedback.
    • Quantify expected or realized business impact
    • Finalize capstone presentation and prepare for leadership review panel presentation.

Week 10 | Final Capstone Presentation & Program Close

  • Final capstone presentation to leadership review panel
  • Business case and performance-based bonus discussion
  • Internship feedback, reflection, and next-steps discussion

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the internship, interns will:

  • Understand enterprise sales within a consulting and professional services environment
  • Gain exposure to data, analytics, cloud, and AI solutions
  • Learn how sales teams collaborate with technology partners
  • Develop executive-level communication and presentation skills 
  • Build confidence engaging with senior leadership
  • Develop a strong sense of ownership and accountability for outcomes

Desired Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Marketing, Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Strong interest in sales, consulting, partnerships, or technology
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and research capabilities
  • Comfortable working with Excel, PowerPoint, CRM tools (Salesforce experience a plus), and AI chatbots (ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, etc.) 
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and eager to learn
