Outdoor Adventure Instructor

Job Description

Camp Lenox, a premier residential summer camp located in the beautiful Berkshire Mountains of Massachusetts, is seeking Ropes Course and Climbing Wall Instructors for Summer 2026.

This is an incredible opportunity for students interested in outdoor leadership, adventure education, climbing, and experiential learning.

Our ropes course program includes both high ropes elements, climbing wall instruction, and team-building initiatives designed to help campers build confidence, resilience, and leadership skills.

You will work with campers ages 7–16, teaching climbing techniques, facilitating ropes course challenges, and creating an exciting and safe outdoor adventure experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and facilitate ropes course and climbing wall activities
• Teach campers climbing basics including belaying, knot tying, and safety techniques
• Lead group challenges and team-building initiatives
• Ensure all safety protocols and equipment procedures are followed
• Maintain ropes course and climbing equipment
• Help create a fun and supportive adventure environment for campers

Candidates with experience in climbing gyms, outdoor programs, or challenge courses are especially encouraged to apply.

Compensation

💰 $2,300 – $2,600 salary
✈️ Travel stipend available

Ideal Candidates

• Students studying Outdoor Recreation, Adventure Education, or Environmental Studies
• Experience with climbing, belaying, or ropes courses
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Enthusiasm for working with children in an outdoor environment
• Certifications such as ACCT, belay certification, or lifeguarding are a plus (but not required)
